Think one person runs the city? Think again. 👀
The Mayor and City Council share power—and when they’re in sync, the city thrives.
But when they’re not? We all feel it.
Let’s break down how it actually works.
🧠 Learn it. Share it. Demand more.

Too often in local politics, people are willing to speak loudly about injustice somewhere else while turning a blind eye to what’s happening right in front of them.

Influence doesn’t always happen in public. Sometimes it happens through money, relationships, access, favors, and the people working behind the scenes. And when the same interests are funding candidates, shaping narratives, or trying to maintain control across judicial, mayoral, council, and other races, the public has every right to ask questions.

Who is funding whom?
What do they expect in return?
And whose interests will come first once the election is over?

You cannot talk about governmental integrity while ignoring the influence of people who benefit from division, confusion, or a system that only works for a connected few.

This isn’t about pretending that every person on one side is good and every person on the other side is bad. It’s about accountability.

Follow the money. Pay attention to the relationships. Ask the hard questions.

Because at the end of the day:

WHOEVER FUNDS YOU, RUNS YOU.

Today, a wave of gratitude just hit me.

Sometimes we spend so much time thinking about what we’re waiting on God to do that we forget to stop and thank Him for what He’s already done.

I’m sitting in blessings I didn’t even know to pray for.

Life hasn’t been perfect. I haven’t been perfect. I’m still learning, still being refined, still working through forgiveness, and still trying every day to have clean hands and a clean heart.

I’ve learned that sometimes we ask God to bless us with triumph, but sometimes the blessing comes through the trial. And as uncomfortable as the pruning may be, if He’s still working on me, I believe there’s still more in store.

Through everything, my family is still here. We’re still blessed. We’re still standing.

And for that, I’m forever grateful.

Peace and blessings. Y’all know what it is… We Got Work To Do.

Come behind the scenes with me. 👀

This past week I created two custom acrylic signs for the @gss_fgbc WHYWOE Women’s Month & Brunch.

The combination:
🤍 White acrylic
✨ Rose gold mirrored acrylic

From designing and laying everything out, to cutting, assembling and bringing the final pieces together — this is the part people don’t always get to see.

Watch the process. 🎥

My faith is a little different right now.

I was sitting there watching the armored truck folks coming out of a bank carrying the money, and one thought hit me:

God, I want to bank where the banks bank.

I’m believing for the kind of resources where I walk into a bank to make a deposit and they have to tell me, “Mr. Griffin-Clark, we can’t handle a deposit this large.”

Not because I just want to have money.

I want to be blessed enough to be a blessing.

I want the resources to help people, pour into communities, build things, support ministry, create opportunities and do the work God has called me to do.

That’s the level of faith I’m walking in.

I don’t know what YOU’RE believing God for right now, but whatever it is, don’t be afraid to believe BIG.

Because if He can trust you with it, imagine what He can do through you with it.

We got work to do. 🙏🏾

I was watching an interview my cousin @wufandchop9 did with @nolazine , and he dropped a lot of jewels. But one thing he said really stayed with me.

He said, “I’m a much better person because of being kicked while I was down. I was looking up to see who was kicking me. I know the shoe size of everybody that kicked me.”

That hit me.

Because I’m a loving person. When I love you, I love you for real, and I’ll do damn near anything for the people I care about. So yes, it hurts when people you loved do you wrong.

But for me, it goes deeper than that.

There have also been people in political spaces, people with influence, access, titles, and power, who have played with my life, my family, my name, and things I worked hard for. Some of what was done to me went far beyond politics.

And God is still working on me when it comes to forgiving all of it.

My cousin said, “I forgive you because you don’t have to deal with me. You have to deal with God. I’m not the retaliator. Romans 12:19 says vengeance belongs to God.”

That is where I’m trying to live.

Forgiveness does not mean I forgot. It does not mean I didn’t see what happened or who did it. I saw the shoes.

I just refuse to let what somebody did to me turn me into somebody I’m not.

God will handle what belongs to Him.

My job is to keep becoming a better man, protect my family, learn the lesson, and keep moving forward.

We got work to do.

Chicago is doing something New Orleans should be paying close attention to.

Instead of responding to declining enrollment by simply closing schools, Chicago is investing in Sustainable Community Schools—putting resources into educators, students, families, after-school programs, community partnerships and wraparound services.

That approach is commendable.

New Orleans cannot simply close its way into a stronger public education system.

We also cannot keep funding mid-six-figure CEOs and multiple six-figure administrative salaries while educators are buying supplies, classrooms are struggling for resources and students are going without the support they need.

The classroom should not be the last place the money reaches.

Before we decide another school has to close, we should be asking:

What would happen if we truly invested in it first?

What if we strengthened the school, supported the educators, engaged the families and made that school a real anchor for the surrounding community?

Closing schools does not rebuild trust.
It does not bring families back.
And it does not automatically create better outcomes for children.

Sometimes a struggling school does not need a closing plan.

Sometimes it needs an investment plan.

That is the conversation New Orleans needs to be having.
