Had the trip of a lifetime with my friend @kevin.passage in the beautiful, nearly untouched wilderness of Southeast Alaska.

A week of backpacking, camping, and fishing in the woods is good for the soul. I‘m reset, restored, and focused.

“The most powerful moment on the trip was really that final circle we did up on the mountain before we hiked down.

People in the circle really share a lot of emotion, a lot of events in their life, it capped the bond that the group was building through the week.

My favorite part was hiking up the mountain and knowing we were going to spend couple nights up there, really taking in that setting and trying to really feel the mountain under us, and have those views. Not just for a moment where you hike up and hike down, but for 36 plus hours with the whole group. That was really special.

It’s surprising how easily you can make friends in a playful beautiful nature setting. People that you’ve never met before can quickly become your friends and allow you to be playful and feel like a kid again.

It certainly allowed me to be myself, which is a bit silly goofy, and playful. The group brought that out in me. I would describe it as a really small connected group of people having fun in nature and being lead by a super enthusiastic and positive leader in Kevin.

I didn’t come last year, and then I made it I priority this year. The biggest thing is, you’ll be called hewn you’re ready. Don’t shy away from that when you feel called”

While we may remember the sacredness of human beings, we have forgotten that the Earth is sacred too, That it has a living soul capable of speaking directly to our own.

Our neglect of the sacred within creation has left behind an inner wasteland. Into that emptiness have rushed endless consumption, perpetual distraction, ideological division, and lives increasingly separated from the living world that has always sustained us.

Having forgotten that our bodies, our communities, our economies, and every human achievement remain utterly dependent upon the generosity of this planet, we continue to live under the illusion that we stand above the rest of creation rather than within it. Extraction becomes progress. Growth becomes unquestionable. We mistake domination for intelligence.

Every age has its promise of elsewhere.
Once it was heaven. Today it is Mars.

The destination changes, but the story remains remarkably similar. Fulfillment lies somewhere beyond the place we are. Somewhere that will finally save us from ourselves.

Meanwhile, the ground beneath our feet becomes disposable.

But the greener pastures have always been here.
The forests. The rivers. The soil. The salmon. The rain. The mountains. The communities of life that make our own existence possible.

When we cease to experience the Earth as sacred, we inevitably begin treating it as nothing more than a capital asset.

The crisis we face is not only ecological. It is a crisis of relationship.

Because Earth is not merely the place we happen to live.

It is the abundance we have been searching for all along.

Men’s Boundary Waters Canoe Expedition Fall 2026 & 2027

Seven days of paddling, portaging, fishing, campfires, and wilderness.

Men gathered around fires long before they gathered around screens.

Maybe that’s why the Boundary Waters feels strangely familiar.

You’ll paddle across lakes that haven’t changed since the ice age, portage a canoe from lake to lake, learn to navigate with a map and compass, catch fish, and cook it over the fire that night alongside other men who came looking for the same thing you did.

You’ll sleep beneath more stars than most people see in a year, watch moose wade through the marsh at first light, and stop talking when a loon calls across the lake.

By the end of the week, you’re tired in the best way. Your shoulders ache. Your hands are rough. Your mind is quiet.

It’s a good way to spend a week.
