Cover design for WE ARE THE SHAPES by Kevin Jenner - Published by Happy Yak (Quarto), 2022.

A hilarious book about what makes Squares and Triangles different and how they find common ground and use each other's strengths to build a rocket. It's properly absurd and exciting and I didn't think I would find simple shapes so funny and endearing but that's the genius of out of this world, unique and superb Kevin Jenner.

Tia was the first of the huge group of cats at my partners mums house. She loved us and chose to sleep with us every night instantly imprinting on Charlotte and I as a little ball of kitten. Over the year more cats joined the family and before we left for our new home in bath Tia was spending more and more time outside as she liked the space and the quiet with too many cats in the house.

Elsa the mainecoon had taken to letting herself into our room velociraptor style every night and sleeping on Charlotte claiming her as her own. Tia and Elsa always got on but charlotte fell in love with Elsa and we didn’t think it was fair or safe to bring Tia with us as she loved the outdoors. When we moved away Tia stopped coming in as much to sleep and eat with the other cats, she was instantly adopted by the elderly couple next door who loved her very much along with Archie the ginger Tom who also moved one door down.

Charlottes mum suffered a terrible fall in 22 and we came home to look after the cats and raise the kittens one of which was our Fia. Tia came in the house sporadically to visit us those months, she always did when we were home. She still had a really strong bond with us and her passing is so bittersweet

This video was taken that month
I think I will always regret that we couldn’t take her with us. by @kevinjennerwinter

Happy Mothers Day I’ve been home in my home town of Tadley God Help Us this week.
My dads done his knee in so its been a lot of cooking and cleaning and lawn mowing to elevate shields of the duties. I found time to paint this picture of the late Ichabod for her though. Was scary painting with watercolour again but think I will do some more as it’s mega fun.
Lookafter yourselves and don’t forget to practice Korean Backdashes on tekken 8 or else possibly remain a scrupman for ever and ever.
Ghosts of black cats and their owners for a free Palestine. I’ll continue sharing stuff in my stories. Stay woke Meow Meow Meow #blackcat #blackcatsofinstagram #kitten #deadcat #bestboi #familiar #darkarts #meow #catsforpalestine

Had a fantastic time yesterday @mcsoxford

WE ARE THE SHAPES won best picture book at the Oxfordshire Book Prize 🏆
I got to meet an awful lot of brilliantly clever kids, librarians and teachers. It was an absolute joy to hear how much you all enjoyed my debut book and thank you all so much for voting for it.

I had an absolute blast live drawing pictures on a big stage and getting to tell you about the origins of the Squares and the Triangles.

@jocotterillbooks was an absolutely brilliant host!
So much energy.

Was a pleasure to meet all the other authors @rachellawston @paullawston @simonjamesgreen @cynthiamurphyya
Christopher Edge and Tim Collins. The latter of whom took us on a rain soaked lord of the rings esq adventure to the park and ride, complete with locked gates, drenched coats, killer ducks, possibly beautiful scenery (we couldn’t see coz it was too dark) a Harry Potter set and some very necessary sandwiches, was a joy talking punk bands with you.

Thanks again to everybody who championed the book and voted for it. Thanks to my publisher @quartokids @rhiannon_f and my team @sarah_chapman.suire @emilypither we did it!!! Yaks yaks yaks yaks yaks yaks yaks!!! @happyyakbooks

It’s been a rough ween mental health wise for a lot of people so please check in on your empaths. It’s important to find time for yourselves and finding room for those a little more susceptible to weird psychic collective emotional jazz at the table makes you a real one. Halloween is a time for spirits if you believe in spirits if not it’s time for candy and horror there’s an awful lot of horror lately and a lot of little dead, leave a light on outside…I can’t coz I only have birthday candles and my pumpkin is way too small this year. Happy Halloween I guess, I’m off to go watch the shining for the 50th time. Xxx #halloween #misfits #crimsonghost #madmagazine #cute #spooks #cat #pumpkin #toughween by @kevinjennerwinter

I’ve officially been a picture book author for a year!!! It’s been a ride! My favourite ride is ghost train then water flume this is third best then rollercoaster (because I am old and sometimes rollercoasters mess up my back) thanks to everyone that’s supported my lifelong dream of writing picture books and pretending I’m Raymond Briggs, very much appreciate the online reviews the messages photos and videos you guys send of your family getting together to@read them. Apologies for anyone I didn’t add to this I had to spend like an hour trawling through food pictures, warhammer 40K pictures and cat pictures to dig out this stuff (I am not organised and do organise or prepare things in advance at all) thanks to everyone that made this year rad! The TATE MODERN!!! My gcse art teacher wouldn’t have seen that coming 😂 #wearetheshapes @happyyakbooks #happyyak #quartobooks @quartokids @quartobooksuk @quartobooksus #shapes #weareshapes #squares #triangles #circles #childrensbookillustration #picturebookillustration #picturebooks #illustration #instagramreels #booktok #tickboomhearmecokingdownthesebackstreets #pumpingblackstreetfadedlikeanathlete #tatemodern @tate by @kevinjennerwinter

Fia the deathbed maiden is nearly a year old soon??? In the words of Frank Ocean that’s a pretty fucking fast year flew by. I keep getting scammers messaging me on here trying to sponsor her but she’s like me DIY PUNK ethos forever or whatever. Fighting eating and causing trouble is all we are good for. #mainecoon #eldenring #fromsoftware #rancidpunks #catsoneverythingcatsoneverything by @kevinjennerwinter
