Somewhere along Seven Mile Bridge, the Florida Keys begin to feel like a different world. 🌅

Over a century of history, from Flagler’s railroad to the Overseas Highway. The old bridge, Fred the little tree, and seven miles of open water that have become one of America’s most iconic drives.

Windows down, radio on, heading south on US 1. Some things never get old.

❤️ Do you remember your first time crossing Seven Mile Bridge? Tell me your story in the comments.

🌴 Fred the Tree.

Growing from the old Seven Mile Bridge, surrounded by saltwater, blazing sun and hurricanes… Fred just keeps standing.

Somehow, that feels very Florida Keys. 🌊

Weathered. Stubborn. Still here.

If you love the Florida Keys, share this reel and follow me for more stories from the islands. 🤙

The strangest landmark in the Florida Keys started with a hurricane and a toilet seat. 🚽🌴

After Hurricane Donna in 1960, Vernon Lamp found a toilet seat hanging from a post marking the shortcut he’d carved through Florida Bay off Plantation Key. He painted it, put it back—and Toilet Seat Cut became a Keys tradition.

Captured on Fujifilm Acros 100 with a Nikon F, introduced in 1959. 🎞️

Would you boat through here?

🦀 Stone crab season is back in the Florida Keys!

Long before Key Largo became a vacation destination, fishing was the backbone of this community.

Since 1972, Key Largo Fisheries has been part of that history, connecting local fishermen with the people who enjoy their catch.

Every October 15th, stone crab season brings another chapter of this tradition to life. More than just fresh seafood, it’s a reminder that Key Largo is still a working fishing community.

A little glimpse beneath the surface of the Florida Keys. 🌊🐠

Clear water, colorful marine life, and a whole different world just below the boat. One of the many reasons I love calling the Keys home. ❤️

Some places are part of what makes the Florida Keys feel like home. ❤️

Harriette’s in Key Largo is one of them. Famous for its key lime muffins, homemade breakfasts, and decades of memories around the table.

This time, I brought my family, my Pentax 645, and a roll of black-and-white film. Some traditions are worth keeping.

❤️ This is not a sponsored reel. I don’t do commercial work. I simply love the Florida Keys and enjoy sharing the places, people, and stories that make this place special to me.

🎞️ Florida Keys history lives in plain sight.

An evening walk along Bayside Marina in Islamorada, where fishing boats, Florida Bay sunsets, and old traditions echo generations of sportfishing culture.

The Islamorada Fish Company dates to 1948, World Wide Sportsman to 1967, and the Zane Grey Lounge honors the area’s rich fishing heritage. 🌅🎣

Another week comes to an end in Key Largo. 🌅

After a full day on the water, I sent the drone up for one last look at Blackwater Sound. A few boats heading home, the sun getting low, and another beautiful evening in the Florida Keys.

I’ve watched this sunset more times than I can count, and it never gets old. ❤️

📷 Old Tavernier has stories hiding in plain sight.

From Old Settlers Park and views of Tavernier Key to the historic downtown and the pink Tavernier Hotel, this little photo walk took me through more than a century of Florida Keys history.

Some of the old buildings are still standing, quietly telling the story of the Keys before they became a tourist destination.

📷 This Camera is 61 years old and still taking pictures. Hopefully I age as well as this camera! 😂

An early fall morning in Key Largo seemed like the perfect excuse to take my 1965 Yashica Lynx 14 out for some exercise.

Armed with Ilford HP5 and that beautiful 45mm f/1.4 Yashinon lens, I headed toward Sundowners on Blackwater Sound for a little black-and-white photography.

With hundreds of cameras in my collection, I’ve learned one thing: old mechanical cameras don’t appreciate retirement. They need to be used!

A little fresh air, a few frames of film, and another 60-year-old camera still doing what it was built to do.

Now, if only regular exercise could keep me going for another 60 years! 😂
