Happy 3rd Birthday to my son, Keyon II, aka K2! 🎉💙

These three years of fatherhood have been nothing short of amazing. Watching you grow, learn, laugh, and become your own little person has been one of the greatest experiences of my life.

You give me an even greater reason to go hard every single day. You make me want to continue growing as a man, as a father, and as a leader.

A big part of why I strive to make this world better than I found it is because I know I’m leaving it to you.

Happy 3rd Birthday, K2! Daddy loves you more than words can explain.

As I prepare to turn 38, I can’t help but reflect on a year filled with growth, challenges, lessons, and blessings.

I’ve continued building Black Men Read, growing as an entrepreneur, becoming a published poet and public speaker, and embracing the greatest role of my life being a father. Watching my son grow reminds me daily why legacy matters.

This year has also taught me a lot about relationships, love, communication, and grace. Not every lesson comes easy, but every lesson has helped shape the man I’m becoming.

I’ve continued to carry the memories of my brothers with me, honoring them through the work I do, the words I write, and the life I live. Their impact continues to fuel my purpose.

As I step into 38, I’m grateful for family, friends, community, and everyone who has supported me along the way. I don’t have it all figured out, but I’m learning to trust the journey, celebrate the progress, and appreciate the people who walk beside me.

From founder to father, from poet to public speaker, from loss to purpose I’m grateful for every chapter that has brought me here.

Here’s to another year of growth, healing, impact, and legacy.

Happy Birthday to me. by @keyon.watkins

🗣️ BLACK MEN T.A.L.K. — October 22

What did we inherit that was never spoken about?

This month’s conversation, “Bloodline, Burden, & Becoming,” will explore how history, generational trauma, survival, family patterns, masculinity, and culture continue to shape Black men today.

Some things were passed down to help us survive. But the question is: Do they still serve us?

This isn’t about blame. It’s about understanding what we carry and deciding what we want to keep, what we need to challenge, and what we’re ready to change.

Come ready to TALK.
Truth. Accountability. Listening. Kinship.

📅 October 22, 2026
⏰ 6:30–9:00 PM
📍 4631 Delmar Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63108

Black men deserve spaces where we can be open, vulnerable, challenged, supported, and heard.

Tag a brother who needs to be in the room. ✊🏾

Black Men T.A.L.K. — Expectations: The Weight We Carry

What does it cost us to always be the one who has to “figure it out”?

Black men carry expectations every day—to provide, protect, lead, succeed, stay strong, and keep moving even when we’re exhausted. But we don’t always have spaces where we can talk about what that weight actually feels like.

Join us for our next Black Men T.A.L.K. as we have an open conversation about “Expectations: The Weight We Carry.” We’ll talk about the expectations placed on us, the pressure we put on ourselves, and the unspoken expectations that affect our relationships, families, careers, faith, and brotherhood.

This isn’t about lowering our standards. It’s about learning when pressure becomes too heavy, communicating what we need, and giving ourselves permission to be human.
