I’ve fully accepted that I may never return to the traditional workforce again. It’s Virgo season and with great strategy comes great clarity. The currently climate in the job market has been bleak to say the least. As I round out almost a second full year of searching, I’ve decided to free myself from automated resume uploads, & constant cover letter rewrites, all for hiring teams to eventually “go in another direction”. This time I’ve decided to change my direction. I am a Senior Lead Producer and recently Executive Produced my first unscripted competition show. I’ve ran productions for ESPN, Netflix, Meta, Amazon and so many more high impact platforms and brands. I KNOW my value and my work ethic. In my independent work, I’ve received so many awards for my digital series and short films. I can create stories and bring worlds to life that resonate deeply with communities and entertain them at the same time. This isn’t too brag, but I say this to as a reminder to myself that rejection is simply redirection. It’s not that I can’t do the job, or I’m not good enough. When I sit down with myself and truly think about it, there’s only one community I want to devote to and serve, and all these companies I’ve been applying to do not align with that vision. My vision. My vision of a femme centered world, supported by sustainable technology, rooted in spirituality and ancestral knowledge. Telling stories of accountable evolution in all its complexity and imperfection with grace and love. That’s the world I want to breathe life into. That’s the world I want to serve. That’s the world I’ve been building this entire time, now finally with the focus to lean in all the way in. So lean in with me! Does your brand serve femme centered communities? Let me tell you about a Man. A man that couldn’t see his children go unloved or hungry. A man that worked as much overtime and holiday pay he could get to keep his family upward mobile, doing all he could so generations after him didn’t have to worry. A country boy from a sharecropping family, a farmer with his horse turned truck driver, corrections officer, bar keep. But his most proud title was Dad. My Daddy may have been biologically my grandfather but as life, our relationship evolved. From Poppa to Dad, that man never left my side. Always checked on me. Always saw me who I really was. Challenged me to be better, stronger, and smarter than any man that thought he could compete with me. Earlier this year, we laid my Father to rest. I carry every lesson deep in my heart and I hold my head high because I’m still his Little Girl that learned to dance by standing on his shoes and drives with the heaviest foot 🤭 I love you every day.
