We closed out our Summer Read-A-Loud series with Khadeidra Le Gendre and her book A Twin Like You.

It was a joy to see our young readers come together for one more story before the summer ended. Through this series, we’ve had the opportunity to introduce children to new books and authors while bringing families together around a shared love of reading.

I did it - I wrote a book.

For the past 10 months, I’ve been living the ups and downs of self-publishing: the delays, the headaches, the back-and-forth with my design team and project manager. But the dream was always bigger than the frustrations.

Most children’s books don’t feature twins. And the ones that do often show them as identical, as two halves of the same whole. I wanted my sons (and kids like them) to know that they're already whole, just as they are. I wanted them to have a story that celebrates their individuality, while honoring the bond that connects them. I wanted to prove to my boys and to myself that our stories are worth telling.

Today I get to hold that dream in my hands. It would mean so much to see it in the hands of people I love and their little ones!
