If I had to start over from $0 and reach my 1st $500,000 I would not send 1 cold email.

A major bank stopped by our table, asked questions, and that 1 conversation changed the trajectory of the company.

Too many early founders spend months hiding behind cold emails and automated sequences because they think they need a $10000 booth to justify showing up.

The 5 step playbook to work these rooms on a budget:

1. Map events where your buyers actually spend time.
2. Skip the $10,000 booth and grab a floor pass under $200.
3. Pre-book 3 coffee chats from the speaker agenda before boarding your flight.
4. Work the side events, hotel lobbies, and free meetups.
5. Capture exact buyer language on the floor, then follow up within 48 hours while it is fresh.

Trade shows accelerate customer discovery faster than cold outreach. You walk in testing an assumption, and you walk out with the exact words buyers use to justify spending money. #StartupFounder #GoToMarket #B2BSales #FounderLedSales #Startups taken in Cincinnati by @khalile513

8 years building Nichefire. 3.5 years pulling a $0 salary, running late-night Uber Eats orders around Cincinnati just to keep the lights on.

Walking into TMRE in Denver this week as a self-taught researcher in a room full of legacy corporate research directors hit different. Years ago, rooms like this ignored social data. This week, leaders were stopping me in the aisles because they follow our work and wanted to talk about where the market is moving.

We spent the week sharing a Booth with the InsightsNow team, watching our upstream cultural sensing run live on stage. In the sessions, leaders openly called out how AI is flooding executive teams with nothing burgers and synthetic noise that misses real business pain. It confirmed everything we built in the dark.

Evenings turned into electric dinners with leaders in the space, taking enterprise conversations out of sterile slide decks and into real working sessions about what matters next.

We backed it up on the floor with 1 year of tracking holiday signals and 100 questions corporate leaders are asking about Gen Z. Culture is the furthest upstream signal. Tracking it early gives brands foresight while everyone else studies history.

My battery is completely recharged heading back to home. Huge shout out to the InsightsNow team for inviting us to tag along, and to every leader who stopped by to talk shop and show love. When you stay with the problem long enough, the room eventually turns🙌🏾🌊 by @khalile513

I am not a coder, but attending a couple of vibe coding sessions changed how I think about building. You learn more in 1 room with other builders than grinding through tutorials alone.

This Saturday, October 3, Rootlayer Software and Nichefire are co-hosting Vibe Code Cincy at our headquarters (7 E 5th St, Covington) from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

0 pitches, 0 presentations. Supported by Ledger & Logic and Netlify.

Bring 1 laptop or just come curious. RSVP link in bio. by @khalile513

8 years into building @nichefire , and people close to me still ask why I haven’t taken the safe path by now.

I turned 40 last December. The corporate playbook says if you haven’t scaled in 3 years, you’re dragging out a hobby.

Then I listened to Rick Rubin break down the 4 phases of creativity:
1. Seed: Try many things, no timeline
2. Experimentation: Discover what the seed wants to become
3. Crafting: Trim and shape in your own way
4. Finishing: Bring to completion with editorial polish

Most B2B founders quit during Crafting because it feels like stalling. They mistake the slow, expensive work of category creation for failure.

We spent 3.5 years at $0 salary, ran Uber Eats at 1 AM in Cincinnati, and raised a friends and family round just to survive the craft.

Now, we’re in the finishing phase: closing in on our revenue goals and partnering with Fortune 50 teams.

Swipe through for the breakdown. taken in Cincinnati by @khalile513

3.5 years delivering Uber Eats at 1 AM in Cincinnati with zero salary to keep Nichefire alive.

A Black founder in Ohio building an unproven category did not fit the Silicon Valley pattern. Back then, that meant late-night deliveries across the city so I could keep 9 AM enterprise pitch meetings on the calendar.

8 years building Nichefire taught me that conviction outlasts comfort. Today, Fortune 50 brands pay us to tell them where culture is moving next.

Still building right here in Cincinnati 🙌🏾🌊💯 by @khalile513

I must have met Khalil like 2 months ago and I promise you there’s been 4 - 5 instances where I know someone he works with or friends or they been on the show. You can’t make this is up and this ain’t a brag or boast but I truly put in the work and built real relationships.

Happy Birthday to my beautiful mama @evelyn_elamin

I’ve been reflecting a lot lately on life, growth, and this entrepreneurial journey, and none of it happens without my mom.

Today is her birthday, and I just want to say thank you.

She has always been my foundation. She showed me patience when I was wild, gave me strength when I didn’t have it, and always made sure I had what I needed. Her love shaped the man I’ve become.

Today is also her anniversary with my dad. He passed in 2020, but their love never left. Because of them, I know what real love looks like. I know what it means to show up, to hold on, and to lead with heart.

I’m grateful for both of them. For the love they gave and the lessons they left with me.

Happy birthday, Mom. I love you. And I hope you feel all of that love today 🫶🏽 by @khalile513
