Exhibiting Artists | Azania Yethu

@khotso_33 is a self-taught painter and printmaker based in Johannesburg. His practice explores abstraction through an intuitive engagement with colour, emotion, and the natural world. Inspired by woodgrain, plant life and organic forms. Motsoeneng creates vibrant paintings that investigate the symbolic relationship between colour and human experience.

@lusandandita's practice explores the domestic archive through family photographs, oral histories and identity. Ndita received the Tierney Fellowship in 2020 and the Absa L'Atelier Gerard Sekoto Award in 2024. In 2025, he completed an artist residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, France. He was commissioned to make work for the Apartheid Museum's exhibition Grave Injustice: The Unfinished Business of the TRC.

@sello.letswalo is a multimedia artist whose practice explores personal narratives, African identity and cultural rituals through sculptural paintings made from found and recycled materials, particularly discarded steel. Letswalo transforms salvaged materials into richly textured works that reflect themes of sustainability, memory, and community.

@sibusisomolwantwa is a photographer whose practice explores time, space, ancestral memory, and the psychological and spiritual dimensions of human experience. He has exhibited widely in South Africa and internationally, including in Cameroon, Sweden, Germany, Russia, and Switzerland. He is the recipient of the 2022 Tierney Fellowship Award. His recent exhibitions include the 2025 FNB Art Joburg Fair in collaboration with the Johannesburg Art Gallery and Navigating New Horizons at Artion Gallery, Geneva (2026).

@tsheposizwephokojoe is multidisciplinary artist whose textile practice explores memory, identity, labour and belonging through stitching, layering and assemblage. He is the recipient of the PPC Imaginarium Merit Award (2017) and the Blessing Ngobeni Art Prize (2023), and has participated in residencies and development programmes including Young/Unframed at Bag Factory Studios, RMB Talent Unlocked, and the Rele Art Foundation Young Contemporaries programme in Nigeria. by @khotso_33

J MALWANDE.

A uniform can tell us what someone does.

But it cannot tell us everything they carry.

In J Malwande, I use the figure, clothing and reclaimed steel to explore ideas of identity, labour, masculinity and the weight carried by the individual.

The military-inspired clothing becomes more than clothing. It becomes a symbol of discipline, protection and the different identities we wear as we move through life.

I’m interested in the tension between the strength of the figure and the vulnerability that sits underneath it.
