Day 2 of @mullumrootsfestival the Sunday was my day off from photography duties, with other great photographers on the roster. A chance to cruise and soak up full sets instead of racing around capturing as much as possible. Still, I couldn’t resist bringing my camera and getting a few snapshots as I meandered around. Another great weekend of music done and dusted, forever memories made in those moments where magic comes alive on stage or on the streets!

The Northern Rivers was served up a treat on Friday night with North Carolina rockers Wednesday ripping up the stage of Mullumbimby Civic Memorial Hall to a very appreciative audience that had come from near and far to see them on the last date of their Australian Tour. Local grrls Royal Ratbags opened the night with a high energy set that really got the crowd warmed up on a winters night. Big thanks to Jet Black Cat Music for having me along to photograph another quality night of music. More photos on the Facebook 📸

When Shan from @jetblackcatmusic says, “You have to get along to this gig, it’ll blow your mind,” you listen.

So despite plans for a quiet night in, we found ourselves heading down the hill to the @elthamhotelnsw for a truly spellbinding evening of music from two artists we’d never heard before.

Hanna Stretton’s lush soundscapes, intricate guitar work, and gorgeous vocals held us completely captivated, while Alice Barlow’s opening set was equally magical. When the two joined each other on stage for a handful of songs, the harmonies were simply exquisite.

Another magnificent night of music at our favourite hinterland hotel. 🎶❤️

A beautiful night at @elthamhotelnsw for the final show of a three week @mapleglider residency, and the first night of a special three-date run with @hannah_____mckittrick

The exquisiteness of the music and the quiet thoughtfulness in the songwriting made for one of those nights where the room seemed completely suspended in the moment. Intimate, and deeply felt, then brought back to earth by raw and real banter 😂

Huge thanks to @jetblackcatmusic and the Eltham crew for continuing to bring such high-quality live music to our region. We’re incredibly lucky to have nights like these happening in our backyard ❤️

@byrontheatre hosted a very special night this Easter, with @domturnerbacksliders Dom Turner and Joe Glover playing tribute to their late great bandmember Rob Hirst. With drum virtuosos Rosscoe Clark and Hamish Stuart doing double duty because as Dom put it “We need two drummers to fill Rob’s shoes”, Rick Grossman on bass, and a special guest appearance from Rob’s daughters Lex and Gabriella. A emotional night of superb Blues music and storytelling, with a stomping warmup from local larrikin @marshallokell , it was truly a night to remember.

A beautiful night at @pearcescreekhall 🎶

A special stop on a national tour — and the first time @jetblackcatmusic has brought an act to this intimate, character-filled space.

@mimigilbert_ a California-born songwriter whose music feels shaped by the road, holding the room with a kind of quiet, disarming intensity. The sort of songs that don’t demand attention, but earn it completely.

@rubymarygill moving between poetry and song, her words settling deep and her harmonies lifting everything around them.

With a charming set from local duo @myleegrace & Maria Stratton to open the night.

A respectful, attentive crowd, and acoustics that carried every note, you really could hear a pin drop.
