Yesterday I had so many beautiful messages
and photos of my last birthday on Bundjlaung before coming home to Ireland.
I looked at them this morning.
With such deep gratitude for so much love, from so many people, across both lands.
And also gratitude for an unexpected learning.

Moving home = no amount of love or paperwork prepares you for how alone this process is. nobody can move for you.
nobody can feel it. nobody can shake the clay from your roots.

Any others returned feeling me?

For someone who lives + breathes community, who builds it, who needs it, who believes it is the whole point…
I really had no idea what this year was going to take and ask of me.

Coming home was always going to be hard. I knew, but what nobody tells you is that every single thing comes undone at once. your health. your work. your income. your housing. your community. your family. every bit of comfort + routine + coping strategy you spent years building, all of it shaken loose at the same time.

You are literally being uprooted and for me that was always gonna be extra shaky as a single mama. self employed. an artist. neurodivergent. chronic health. and an ancestral drive I cannot switch off, this insistence on making change in whatever time I have here.

It took at least 6 months just to shake clay from my roots and I been in the replanting process and feeling more me. I am coming back into how I felt in those pics + then some!

I didn’t really need to look at these stunning pics from @khp.photo cause that night at @brunswick_picturehouse has been etched in my heart, a guiding lighthouse in tough times, a night which made it all the harder to leave.

This morning I looked at my face + naive + cluelessness of what was to come.
I have learned so much deep down to my roots.
Country is a teacher as my dear sis @bunyarradubay @countryasteacher says.

Grateful for it all.
Being in the community and loneliness
The gratiddue and grief
In the Eucapltypus and a Hawthton.
in two birthday seasons.
And in the science of coming home.
And rerooting.

Anyone else relate ??????
