Miss Bird finding her stride. She got a later start to training, but has mentally grown pretty darn quickly in the last few months. And has fast becoming my go to dog for everything.

Some things make me smile … thank you GOD for good horses, good people, mountains, and roping. It just fills me with love & happiness!

Don’t be afraid to risk it. Life is to short and happiness is rare in this world. I’m so grateful that I went back and gave my 7 year old self a chance. Someone told me 4 years ago .. you have to go back to that kid you pushed aside and left behind. Find her and talk to her. I’m so glad I went back for her and tried to live the life she was made for and wanted along. I would not have changed the path I went down for anything. It was my journey, but I sure am glad I decided to chase the dream that always belonged to me. I’m grateful that I risked it. Could not be more happy, and proud. Even on rough days I’m sure glad I’m living this beautiful cowgirl life. 🐴❤️ #cowgirl
Chase those dreams .. big and small.

What 37 looks like 🎉 I had the joy of celebrating my 37th birthday team roping with friends at the Carbondale Rodeo. From learning to heel three months ago, to the moment of actually catching in a rodeo is surreal! And to do it on Cash, a horse I’ve been training to be my heel horse for the last three months, a horse that used to be scared of a jacket touching his butt. Is just the icing on the gluten free cake. He is still green in a lot of ways but he’s on his way!

I’m stoked to keep working harder at being a better heeler (always rider), and to roping in future events with my partner in crime, @leeannsauter ❤️🙌

I’m eternally grateful to Leanne for all her support, her generosity, and for entrusting me with Cash and his training.

@hmdc_design you’re the reason for all of this! ❤️ I wouldn’t have picked up a rope if it wasn’t for you and your love for roping. You gave so much support on this day. You telling me that I was ready for the rodeo meant the absolute world to me. Love you to pieces!!

To my boy Dexter - the unicorn 🦄!
I’m so proud to be your family. You are a kind, beautiful, goofy, sweet, gentle, loving, silly, radiant, energy shifter who will forever have my heart. ❤️ You came into our life at the perfect time. It’s was like a door opened and you were waiting for me on the other side. It was the beginning of a beautiful journey. You gave me so much joy, and confidence from day one and still do. You are the guy that always shows up ready for whatever we have planned for you that day. My faithful boy that lets me try all the new things I want to try. Climbs the mountain that has no trail or clear path ahead. You still go and make the path for us. Gallops that big body even when you think you are tired. You always show up for all my crazy ideas and dreams. You love so unconditionally. Thank you Dexter for taking care of whoever we put on you and also being the BIGGEST best part of our family. I adore you dude !

I bought this boy from @rmohorses This team stands behind their horses for a reason. They are great horses sold and trained by great people. Sadly it’s not always that way in the horse world we live in, but they not only delivered the horse they said he was but they also have followed up and encouraged me along the way. They are also kind, and wonderful people. I’m really grateful for Dexter but also them … So thanks Joe @rmohorses ! You are also a unique unicorn! Appreciate you ! 🦄

One day, Dexter said to LeeAnn “All my life I’ve heard stories about a place called Aspen, where the air and water that flows down from the mountains are fresh and clean like no other. And LeeAnn said to Dexter “You are an extraordinary creature and I want to make your dream come true. Let’s go breathe that crisp mountain air. Let’s go soothe our legs in the cold stream. And let’s bring friends to share it with!” And they did. by @khstockdogs

Throw-Back-Thursday.
June 2013, 23 years old, $3500 to my name, I decided to sell most of my belongings and move to San Diego…. It might have seem impulsive and out of the blue. Which it was. But it also was a gut-feeling, to just go for it.

Year round sunshine thawed out any New England cold left in my body. I traded in the known, for that Californian-West Coast life . Which brought endless joy, unbelievable fun times, stories with friends, loads of surfing, film festivals, womping, art galleries, science, photography, travel, dogs, diving, sharks, and to top it all off, sun-kissed skin and salty hair.

Wouldn’t traded my impulsive decision for anything in the world.

Birdie is a great pup, fun & challenging to train, and a lovey dog off sheep…. Then she just has her young dog moments. They’re not often but still do happen. 😅

No sheep were harmed.

I just love this little chestnut, Cash. He does have to carry loads of scary jackets on his head because…… bomb proofing.

Side note: Cash is not my horse :) he’s my lovely friend, @leeannsauter ❤️ and she’s wonderful for letting me hang with him as much as I like.

German Shepherds are literal moving fences on stock.

People forget that these dogs were bred for livestock. Hence why they have “shepherd” in their name. These dogs are very versatile and can work sheep, goats, ducks and cattle.

Grateful to have two very nice shepherds come through my training program at Zenda Farms. Pickles, all black and 1.5 years old, 8 lessons already in the field. Capone, 2 lessons and ready for bigger training space and more sheep, 3 years old.

Proud of these woman and their hard work!
