Congratulations to all the KH Strong lifters from yesterday's CAPO W.A. State Powerlifting Championships. Aliesha Sharp @litlbeast_powerlifter won the women's under 70kg category, setting 3 national records and the women's overall Sue Jordan Trophy. This makes her a 3 time overall state women's champion. Tegan Rushton @tegzrose_xx won the women's under 60kg category and set 4 national records. TeGz also came second in the women's overall standings, giving KH Strong its first ever 1 2 at overall standings. Brendan Murphy @achievement.apex won the men's under 95kg category setting several personal bests. Zane Pusey @enaz_yesup came 2nd in the men's under 95kg category as well as 2nd in the junior men's overall standings. Izzy Barrett @izzy.barrett.16 came 3rd in the men's under 100kg category and set a massive 310kg personal best deadlift. Max Humble @max_hum_powerlifting finished 3rd in the overall teens standings, setting personal bests in all 3 lifts and his total. Max smashed his first ever 200kg deadlift as well. Sean Chinnery @seanoo5 and Liam Kent @liamkent_muaythai both made their competition debuts and were outstanding. Both proved they are going to be more than competitive going forward, with both finishing 4th in there respective categories. Brad Humble @bradhumblepowerlifter tried to eat the bar while benching but managed to get a successful 200kg bench, to finish 1st in the bench only category. This gave Team KH Strong a second victory in the Champion Team Trophy for the second time. An achievement we are all very proud of. It's time to recap an amazing weekend! 9 months ago, Aliesha Sharp @litlbeast_powerlifter was told she had stress fractures in her back and to stop lifting. I said, "no fucking chance, we can work through this", and guess what????? We did and Aliesha won Proraw 14!!!!! What a phenomenal athlete and woman to boot. The numbers from Proraw 14 were as follows. Squat - 182.5kg Bench - 92.5kg Deadlift - 212.5kg TOTAL - 487.5kg All three lifts were personal bests and of course a personal best total to boot. Aliesha already held the record for the biggest under 60kg female total in Western Australian history but this beat her record by a whopping 17.5kgs. The icing on the cake was when Aliesha was awarded the Gregg Gordon Trophy. I was fortunate enough to know Gregg and it was a very proud moment as a coach to have one of my lifters receive such a wonderful honour in such a great man's memory. Thank you to my brother Watene Aroha @j_love92 for his help on comp day. I must mention how amazing the battle was between Aliesha and Belinda Ryder, through to the final deadlift. We both have so much respect for Belinda and look forward to doing it all again soon. None of this would have been possible without some amazing help from Jeremy Princi @holistic_lifestyler and Cam Heise @trained_physioperth Thanks to Markos Markopoulos @prorawpowerlifting for putting on Proraw. Ok here it is. KH Strong is so very proud to announce a four person sponsored athlete team for 2022. Ever since I started coaching my beautiful wife Kiara in Powerlifting, I developed a passion to promote and encourage female lifters. Well now it's time to put that to the test. I have a great stable of lifters in our entire team and am proud to announce a group that I am now sponsoring. Not all are female lifters as we have one very very strong fella as well.
