2016 vs. 2026: Closing the decade, and I’m excited for the next one.

Ten years ago, The Ed and I moved to New York City. My creative spark had been snuffed out by the corporate hustle. It was Edward who brought me back to my brushes and painting.⁣

Stepping into 2026, I’m starting a new chapter. The Ed isn’t here to trot beside me anymore, but this next decade of my art journey is dedicated to his loyalty and belief that I was the best human who could do anything.

If you’ve been trying to get better at something you love, try building up slowly.

3 years ago, I committed to drawing everyday. I drew when I was younger, but lost the skill as I started working in corporate America. I wanted it back, so I started small. I made a resolution to draw everyday, even if it was just for 5 minutes. At first, the drawings were bad and I would miss some days.

But I kept going.

Now, I can draw for hours and often, I think my drawings are pretty good.

When I was younger, I used to worry about how it would look if I was at a restaurant by myself. What if they thought I had no friends?

But as I got older and got used to living in New York City, I learned to worry less about what other people thought and paid more attention to how I felt.
