It’s my job to not only be a bridge between the spirit and the human world, but it’s also my job to be a bridge between the ancient traditions that are saving my life and the modern world that I exist in on a daily basis. Makhosi

Because this question came up - it made me very aware that I’m carrying with me a lot of knowledge (and every day learning more) that has no context in my western life. So I’ve created a new insta to focus more on that part of my life. I’m sure the new @khwezi.le.thongo page will also touch on tattooing as well - but I’m interested in what questions y’all have?

If there’s anything you want to know, or things I can clarify or answer- please let me know. I’m still a student - and so I will do my best to clarify any answers I give by tapping into my community back in South Africa.

Last weekend @trtattcon was so much fun - I highly suggest starting your weekend with some kind of snafu, like a flat tire, as it’s a sign of good luck. I always enjoy taking the long route there - through Chelan and caravanning with my dear friend @shawnatat2. This year I had a chance to do more socializing and a seminar(thank you @aaronmckinneytattoo )- so the value I took home was more in my heart and my mind than in my bank account - and that value is immeasurable. As always - I’m absolutely blown away by Sybil and her amazing team that make this convention feel like a family reunion. Every year there’s more joy and more consideration.

I’m so grateful to the amazing artists I got to share a booth with - it’s beautiful to be surrounded by friends that also inspire you.

This year has been full of big changes and there’s more on the horizon- but with tattooing and my ancestors as my touchstone - I know I’ll always be on a ride that’s thrilling and fulfilling!

Come with me to stock our new artists’ station! Any guesses on who’s joining the team. The shift that’s taken place. This year was unexpected but has turned out to be a really beautiful thing. I didn’t want to reimagined my life in 2026, but since I got the opportunity to, it’s been fantastic to see what it’s like to dream bigger and better!

I know the Seattle Tattoo Expo is this weekend - but behind the scenes, there is not just prep work but other emotional things happening. Life’s just kind of like that sometimes where important events get surrounded by other uncontrollable things

Some tattoos are meant to be finished years later.

I started this piece back in 2020 and, like so many unfinished projects, life simply happened. We never came back for the next session.

A few days ago I stumbled across a photo of it and felt an unexpected pull to reach out to my client. That’s something I almost never do—but this time I listened.

Looking at the original work was a humbling reminder of how much can change in a few years. My technical skills have grown tremendously, but so have I. And as it turns out, so has my client.

A tattoo built around the chakras ended up becoming a reflection of the very growth it symbolizes. We both spent these years healing, learning, and becoming.

Now we get to finish a piece that has quietly been waiting for the right time.

Sometimes tattoos aren’t just permanent reminders of who we were.

Sometimes they become markers of who we’re still becoming. 🐞✨
