Last October, we experienced our first loss.

A year later, I’m holding my daughter, and this October feels different.

I wish I could sit with the girl I was last year. Tell her she doesn’t have to understand any of it yet. That she’s allowed to grieve the future she imagined. That one day, she’ll experience a kind of love she can’t even put into words.

This month, I’m holding space for both versions of me + all the mamas; the ones who’ve learned what it means to lose and the ones who get to experience this beautiful, complicated life on the other side of it. 🤍

I think I’m becoming a Type C mom.

Not because I stopped caring about things, but because I’m learning that not everything needs to be fixed the moment I notice it.

I spent a lot of my life believing that being on top of everything meant I was doing well; motherhood is teaching me that sometimes doing well looks like letting some things be exactly what they are.

So, to the Type A woman who just became a mom,
I hope you know that the life you’re trying so hard to keep in order is also the life you’re meant to be living.

The mess doesn’t mean we’re failing.
We can be tired, undone, and still deeply grateful.
That sometimes the most important thing on that to-do list is simply slowing down; being present.

That is enough for you + baby.

Anyways, I think I’m becoming a Type C mom.

For as long as I’ve imagined becoming a mother, I’ve imagined this moment too…getting to introduce our little girl to the world. And somehow, now that she’s actually here, I’ve found myself wanting to hold onto this moment and keep her all to ourselves for as long as I possibly could.

I’ve gone back and forth so many times about sharing her, because there’s something so incredibly special about having this little person and this new chapter just for us. I’ve wanted to protect her, protect our peace, and simply take the time to be with her in every aspect since the moment I saw “pregnant” on that test.

But… she’s here. She’s absolutely perfect. And my heart is so full that I’m finally ready to give you all a little glimpse of the love that has completely changed our lives.

Meet Teigan Sivan Kinne. 🤎
