When I was a little girl, I loved two things: pretty dresses and historical books. I loved reading, from newspapers to Jane Eyre - which I read multiple times. On current events Fridays in school, we had to find an article, clip it up, write a summary, present it in front of class. I relished the assignment every week. Little did I know I’d be paid to do this for a living on television to tens of millions of people all over the world, as a grown up.

When I wasn’t reading, I was making clothes for my dolls out of old jeans and drawing portraits of my classmates in my designs, which eventually inspired my first business S&A Arts. It was promptly shut down for “soliciting on campus.” I was 9 years old.

I never thought I could find a way to blend my love for global affairs and spotlighting the human spirit with my love of fashion; I was told I couldn’t do both. But then what felt like a set back with my award winning show Women Building Peace losing funding, turned into the catalyst to finally building the table that didn’t exist, for myself and others to show up as our full dynamic selves: @helmettoheels.

As soon as I launched H2H and began to build the plane while flying it, kismet brought the most amazing women into my life - iconic figures in history as my advisors.

Here’s to plotting the power of kindness and women building solutions with @therealdvf at her Venetian palazzo full of stories and soul.

Four years ago tonight, a fire broke out in Evin Prison.

October 15, 2022. Neda was inside.

Four years later, we still don’t know exactly what happened inside Evin that night. There are still so many unanswered questions. But we have Neda’s point of view, her testimony, her memories, and her voice, and that is the heart of THAT NIGHT.

I believe her story deserves to be heard and remembered.

Today, on the fourth anniversary of the fire, we want to remember why we made this film in the first place: for Neda, and for everyone who was inside Evin that night.

Praying for a speedy recovery for Pope Leo. This was truly a priceless memory. I can’t even begin to explain what it was like, particularly bookending the kind of summer I had - one that brought humanity, humility, mortality… the beauty, tragedy and fragility of life into sharp focus. His energy was so healing ❤️‍🩹 His Holiness felt truly… holy. I felt a bit better knowing we have him here with us. The world needs him.

Thank you to @tizianoguardini for advising me that my @dolcegabbana dress was in fact too short for papal audience standards and came to the rescue with some eco conscious lace from @ilunagroup @officialfulgar , that I sewed onto a skirt on the @frecciarossaofficial Milano to Roma 😂 (proof at the end of the carousel)

I spoke with @dorospix Chou at Women’s Health Horizons this week about massively better WOMEN’S health. Here are some messages I tried to share with the audience:

🔥 We’re measuring the women’s health market wrong. If you size the future of women’s health based on what we’ve historically spent on women’s health, you’re going to systematically underestimate the opportunity. Today’s reimbursement reflects decades of women being understudied, undertreated, and underserved.
🔥 Women’s health has a funding cliff. We’ve seen a proliferation of seed-stage companies, but far fewer reach Series B and beyond. Let’s help build more enduring, category-defining businesses like @mavenclinic, @evvy, @theoriginway, @midihealth.
🔥 The best product doesn’t always win. We deserve better products and experiences in healthcare, but that won’t happen unless founders learn to nail distribution.
🔥 Align the margin and the mission. A great mission without a viable business model won’t scale. A great business model that makes healthcare worse every time it makes another dollar isn’t progress. Find a business model that creates a virtuous cycle between impact and economics.
🔥 Everything is women’s health! Congratulations to our co-host Suzanne Kianpour (@kianpourworld) and her colleagues at @timesradio on their AIB shortlist for coverage from inside Iran during the protests and the US-Israeli airstrikes.

One conversation sits with us from that period. Rouzy Vafaie trusting Suzanne with his account of IRGC detention he genuinely did not expect to survive. We co-released that episode with Times Radio. His willingness to speak plainly about what he witnessed inside the Islamic Republic did the rest.
