I spoke with @dorospix Chou at Women’s Health Horizons this week about massively better WOMEN’S health. Here are some messages I tried to share with the audience:

🔥 We’re measuring the women’s health market wrong. If you size the future of women’s health based on what we’ve historically spent on women’s health, you’re going to systematically underestimate the opportunity. Today’s reimbursement reflects decades of women being understudied, undertreated, and underserved.
🔥 Women’s health has a funding cliff. We’ve seen a proliferation of seed-stage companies, but far fewer reach Series B and beyond. Let’s help build more enduring, category-defining businesses like @mavenclinic, @evvy, @theoriginway, @midihealth.
🔥 The best product doesn’t always win. We deserve better products and experiences in healthcare, but that won’t happen unless founders learn to nail distribution.
🔥 Align the margin and the mission. A great mission without a viable business model won’t scale. A great business model that makes healthcare worse every time it makes another dollar isn’t progress. Find a business model that creates a virtuous cycle between impact and economics.
🔥 Everything is women’s health! Success will be when investors stop putting these companies in a separate “women’s health” bucket and recognize them for what they are: healthcare companies solving enormous healthcare problems.

One conversation sits with us from that period. Rouzy Vafaie trusting Suzanne with his account of IRGC detention he genuinely did not expect to survive. We co-released that episode with Times Radio. His willingness to speak plainly about what he witnessed inside the Islamic Republic did the rest.

As America marks 25 years since September 11, remains recovered from Ground Zero are still being identified. More than a thousand families are still waiting.

Donald Alway worked the evidence recovery in New York in the spring of 2002, part of a 27-year FBI career that ended as Assistant Director in Charge of Los Angeles. "Those operations are not concluded," he says.

They are calling it “Morocco’s Palestine.”

Verónica Muñoz (@ajournalistvlog) was born and raised in Ceuta, and when @kianpourworld put that narrative to her, she didn’t hesitate: “That is really sad… we have nothing but sympathy towards Moroccan people. They are saying that we are colonizers.”

Then came the history. Phoenicians in the 7th century BC, more than 700 years under Islamic dynasties, Portugal in 1415, and Spanish, she says, for some 600 years, longer than Morocco’s ruling dynasty has existed. The UN has never listed Ceuta for decolonization.

And one detail undercuts the whole argument: Ceuta is EU territory, but a ferry and a passport check separate it from mainland Spain, and almost nobody who crossed wants to stay. “My town is so small. The main goal is to go to Europe.”
