I chronicle their childhood as if I’m preserving an heirloom. The giggles. The quirks. The imperfect speech and growing language. I document it all, and wrap it neatly with a bow.

We didn’t own a camcorder when I was growing up. The only childhood video I have is of me as a flower girl in my Uncle David’s wedding. There are no recordings of my laughter, no evidence of how I moved through the world. So I capture every fleeting detail of my children, so they (and I) can remember who they were before they grew up. by @kiarawreed

Pausing to chronicle a moment in time is, by far, my favorite holiday tradition. We’ve taken family photos every year since welcoming Wilson in 2019, and seeing the story they tell is a gift that keeps on giving.

This year asked a lot of us and stretched us in ways we didn’t expect, but God’s faithfulness never wavered. So, we’re still counting our blessings, with the greatest of them being this family we’ve created.

Wilson Meets Willow: A Short Story

It was very important to me that I chronicle Wilson and Willow’s first meeting in a way that would allow me and Dequaris to be fully present in the moment, so we hired one of our favorite photographers to shoot a #Fresh48 photo session to capture images of Willow in all her newborn glory just 48 hours after her birth as well as the moment that she and her big brother met for the very first time. Though he had been very receptive to having a little sister and frequently expressed excitement regarding her arrival, neither of us truly knew how Wilson would react but we expected all would go well…and boy, did it ever. 🤎

I’m typically an online shopper, and when I do have to go into a store, I tend to go while the kids are at school or home with their dad. IYKYK. 😅

However, some of my fondest childhood memories are of Saturday store runs with my grandmother, so I decided to take Willow on her first mommy-and-me stroll through @target.

Your journey to and through fatherhood didn’t come with a blueprint, but you’ve built yourself into a great dad anyway. I’m so proud of the father you are, but even more proud of the man you chose to become. Wilson, Willow, and I love you BIG, and we’re so grateful for the way you consistently show up for our family.

Resurrection Sunday was perfect! We started the morning with a themed breakfast and Easter baskets, followed by church at @image_church, and then brunch with our framily at @jonathanstherub!

What’s not pictured, is an evening of egg hunting and dyeing, wine and spirits, and letting the kids stay up entirely too late in the name of fellowship!
