DEGREE SHOW✅️💐

Well done to everyone, and thanks to all who came to support us at the private viewing!

Although it's really sad we'll never all be working in the studio again, it's been amazing seeing how far we've come along these 4 years🥹

These pieces are more personal to me and contain some intricate details, so I will post again with more context.

I've been ruminating on this question for a while, mainly because it encapsulates my current projects.

🌟🌟

In the context of cultural preservation, it allows us to investigate past tragedies leading to our societal standpoint, while also acknowledging subsequent efforts taken to rebuild afterwards.
In my case, it allows me to research Carribean history while also embracing the impact our culture has in the UK today.
How we continue to live through creating music, art, communal spaces and more. How we take up space- not as rebellion, but an assertion of self.

🌟🌟

The realities of conflict being part of the diasporic condition living in London are constantly questioned. It can be exhausting to only hyperfixate on the struggle ensued, and I hope to refresh this narrative through a progressive perspective.

(If u wanna know more about the statement I recommend reading poetry by Derek Walcott 👀👀👀) by @kiera.grace

We’re excited to present ‘To Lift The Ground That Holds Us,’ an exhibition and a series of workshops exploring what it means to carry culture forward, to inherit, adapt, and reimagine it in our own way.
Through painting, sculpture and participatory practice, we’re thinking about what we hold, what changes, and what we choose to make anew.

Over July and August, i have been working with @Skaped on a group community archive project 🌱

This was through an educational lens - with sessions highlighting the ways language can segregate archival material into being institutional and/or communal, and how we can tell the difference from intention. During the last week we bound a book (by hand) of our findings - each picking a topic to create a spread. Everyone knows I love my scanner so I chose to archive packaging from shops on the high street.

We partnered with @houseofannetta to risograph pages and will be exhibiting the book at @richmixlondon later in the year (stay tuned)

Front page of book

Quick flick through

Brief resource list of black mental health organisations- some open, some sadly closed

Page highlighting domestic items in a Bengali household

Risograph tests of scanned packaging

Another scannn

Visiting Tower Hamlets Archive at St Mary’s University to explore differing language in archiving, plus starting research for wider topics (surprise surprise there are LOTS of gaps)

Spend an afternoon wandering and drawing through one of our favourite botanical spots in London. This guided experience will combine a relaxed walk through Kew Gardens with two creative exercises; the first will be focused on still life and the second on life drawing.

This event will be facilitated with one of our newest members; the lovely @kiera.grace - heyyy Kiera! 🌺

What you will get out of the workshop:
Light guidance on composition and observational technique, plus tips on gesture and using different materials for mark making. And as you’ll be spending the day with other Global Majority women and non-binary people you are very likely to share a laugh, swap ideas and have a good time connecting with likeminded souls.

What’s included:
- All creative materials
- Free entry to the gardens

Good to know:
- Max group size is 20
- No drawing experience is required
- You do not have to buy a ticket to enter Kew Gardens, entry is included in this workshop
- You can stay in the gardens and continue exploring once the workshop is over
- If temperatures exceed 33°C or heavy rain is forecast, the event may be postponed. We’ll give as much notice as possible if that is the case.

Accessibility:
The Gardens are largely flat with tarmac paths

Don’t forget:
Bring a water bottle, hat, sunscreen and wear comfortable shoes.

Spaces are limited - book early to avoid disappointment. taken in Kew Gardens by @kiera.grace

Kiera-Grace is a British artist whose work explores memory and the ways it is shaped through cultural transmission, the body, and archival traces. Drawing on the unreliable and sentimental nature of recollection, she creates layered compositions that emulate the distortions and residues of remembering, often allowing fragments of image, texture, and gesture to drift between clarity and obscurity. Her practice is rooted in an interest in how histories are inherited, retold, and carried through both personal and collective experience.

Often centred on scenes within the Black British diaspora, Kiera-Grace employs oil paint, acrylic, collage, image transfer, and material imprints to build surfaces where narrative and movement accumulate over time. Distortion, layering, and repetition recur throughout her work, reflecting the unstable and adaptive qualities of memory itself. Working through a personal yet culturally resonant lens, she investigates how identity can be formed through archives, mythology, family histories, and embodied remembrance. Her paintings and mixed-media works frequently hold a quiet tension between nostalgia and progression, asking how we acknowledge inherited histories without becoming fixed within them. Through these processes, her work reflects on resilience, visibility, and the possibility of carrying memory forward while continuing to live with pride and agency in the present.
