The Ex Vows by Jessica Joyce 🍇

I pretty much went feral and sobbed throughout the whole book!

Reading this book quite honestly touched my soul, YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND, I LOVED GEORGIA, SHE IS ME!!! I full on started sobbing right on the second page because I knew this was going to hit, I knew she was going to be my girl, and I related to mostly everything she felt. As a girl in her 20s, where lots of change is going on and having that slight fear of losing it all, this book tore me to pieces and put me back together.

Eli Mora, the man that you are, goddammit. Words can’t describe how much I felt for this man, and just the small things he would do for Georgia, it just truly showed that his love for her was always there and never left. 🥲🥹

God, I love them so much it hurts 😭
The second chance romance of it all hit so hard, the angst and the tension was there, it made my heart ache and yearn at the same time. 💕

Those goddamn paper rings 😭, that’s it! I knew they were gonna ruin me and they in fact did, iykyk

The friendships in this book was so well written. It’s so special to me and I won’t talk about it because I’ll end up spoiling a lot lol
But why did the wedding also ruin me like if I was there, Adam and Grace are so adorable 🥹

This book was everything to me, I’ll pretty much cry thinking about them, it altered my brain chemistry. It has become one of my favorites 🫶🏼
(My friends can attest to this as I sent them multiple texts saying I’m gonna sue Jessica for emotional damage and crying pics, all out of context, and then proceeding to say how much I loved this book 😂😂)

Some Kind of Famous by Ava Wilder 🌄

AVA WILDER YOU ARE A GENIUS

The way I read this book slowly because I JUST wanted to SAVOR IT, which is actually hilarious because this was a slow burn so maybe I just made it painful for myself
But you have to understand, I LIVEDDDD for any interactions they had, the shy, awkward banter, the way they unknowingly flirted with each other, seeing the friendship form into something more!!! It was EVERYTHINGG
And my godd, Chapter 12 you will live rent free in my mind ALWAYS RAAHHHHH the way he acted, the dancing, the music, all of it!! *swoon swoon swoon*
Niko truly was the calm to Merritt’s chaos, they are the pair that you would never think would work but are the exact person they needed for each other. Niko was someone that could see her for her, appreciated who she was, and cherished all of her. And I just loved the way Merritt would encourage Niko, he got to work through ghosts holding him back, she became someone that he could trust as well.
I appreciated the growth in this book, like not even just from Merritt and Niko, which was touching to witness, but the side characters important in their lives too.
And I’m truly proud of Merritt 🥹 she finally came to a point where she’s at peace with her past, realizes how far she has come, and even finds a way to come back to her art (you don’t understand, I love her so much 😭😭 and throughout the book I just wanted to give her the biggest hug!)
This book was truly heartwarming, real, emotional, and tender, I full on sobbed during the last couple chapters, Merritt and Niko truly have become everything to me 🫶🏼🥹

Ava, you can never do me wrong, one more book that I will forever think about

i spent my whole weekend reading In Every Future, It’s Us (thank you katie <3) and I also spent the whole weekend listening to olivia rodrigo’s new album, so naturally the two collided

i absolutely devoured this book, florence and tom had me absolutely unhinged in the best way loll
there’s just something about friends yearning for each other over years that does it 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️
(will most likely make another post to yap some more)

september reading wrap-up + photo dump 🌙

only read one book in september, which was the magic of untamed hearts by @raquel_of_xochiquetzal
I absolutely loved it!! sky you are so special to me 🥹 this series in general was just so good, its magical and cozy and swoony ahhh
it’s bittersweet saying goodbye to the Flores sisters but oh how I loved all of their journeys 🫶🏼

personally, this past month was rough for me, glad it’s over hah
I’m deeply looking forward to the fall weather, I NEED these temperatures to get lower loll
music always keeps me sane but I find it hilarious that this whole month it was just season 2 weight loss and cigarette smoke on repeat lol (I stand by it being very dangerous to drive while cigarette smoke comes on and yet I still do it because damn is that song painful but also so good 😭😭)

Mutual Discord by Liana de la Rosa ♥️

This just gave me pure telenovela vibes, I felt a roller coaster of emotions! It had me swooning, laughing, wanting to shake the main characters, and even being slightly messy, it was kinda everything!

Sofia, you were so wronged and I too would have caused chaos for you to bring those jerks down!!! And even though the circumstances sucked, I really did love how this sparked her creativity to create the Matildas and leading her to highlight women in history and their accomplishments. It was not only inspiring but also became a learning experience while reading.

Now Alex, him trying to connect with his Puerto Rican culture, and Sofia being that person to welcome him and teach him, it was truly beautiful. Him sharing his feelings about how disconnected he felt and feeling like he didn’t fully belong, it’s honestly such a relatable experience. It resonated with me because I also, with my own Mexican identity growing up, have felt the same way he did.
But I loved how Sofia, her family and Denise too, assured him that he belonged and he IS Puerto Rican! It’s heartwarming 🥹

We can’t ignore the fact that Alex is Sofia’s best friend’s boyfriend, like I said, it’s messy 👀 but worth it 👀👀
But my goddddd what a slow burnnnnnnnn
It’s amazing how you can tell how in awe Alex was by Sofia. The lingering glances, their friendship, they were also just soooo hot 🔥🔥🔥I was obsessed with them!
Sofia’s insecurities definitely showed and they were very understandable (back to wanting to shake her but also hug her!) but Alex was right there to prove her wrong!! 🥹 (ohhhh I definitely teared up and swooned)

chapter 27!

it’s been a quite the year
just last year I was studying every single day, on my last clinical rotation, before taking my board exam
it feels funny looking back, like I was in the trenches last year and now I’m just employed, never having to study again (for now)

so now I’ve just been navigating work life, a couple months ago I had to quit my first job I landed after my program, I just didn’t feel happy about where I was, it was making me lose my mind, I started hitting slumps more often
but even so, having to quit was so scary but I’m so glad I did
I luckily had another job lined up, where I’ve been for almost two months now, and I feel much better about it

reading has been such a saving grace, even after hitting slumps, though I’m not reading as fast as I would like, it has been nice savoring books
I feel like I had such a good reading year, oh man how I love having such a surreal moment, relating to the characters, giggling and crying, and having my heartstrings pulled over a book, a lot of the following did exactly that, so take this as my official recommendation, because I just loved them all 🫶🏼

my preorder for mutual discord arrived recently and look at how pretty she is!! 💗

I had to get two twisted crowns since I just finished book one and also at my friend’s request again 😌 and I’ve been eyeing is this a cry for help? for a while now, so I’m happy I was able to snag a copy!!

i love messy, i love a slow burn, and i love hot people 😌 I also loved sofia and her building a platform to put a spotlight on women in history that deserve more credit!! and alex being so in awe of her?? please I swooooned

★ one dark window by rachel gillig
read this one at my friends request because she loved it and i devoured it too, there were parts where i was holding my breath and just so immersed into the world, it was amazing

not much went on in august, mostly been working along with some slow reading (three books is an accomplishment for me hah)
my highlight would probably be landing some olivia rodrigo tickets last week, my friend and I screamed about it, especially since we were having some daisy chain fields fomo, seriously can’t wait for that!!

the only thing more exciting about august ending, is that fall is fast approaching!
oh how i love the -ber months, it’s when i truly thrive lol (and it’s too damn hot here and I’m over it)

Every Version of You by Natalie Messier 🐈‍⬛

This book was pure magic and genius!
I have never been more hooked, and my god did this book consume me. It’s been almost a week since I finished and honestly I’m still thinking about it, it’s just so good!!!

It was relatable and messy, but also sweet and pulled at my heartstrings
Just about two people, going for the second chance, being open and vulnerable and soft
I loved that Joey, now having a second go at life, is also working through her own goals and going for what she really wants too!
And I cried, there probably wasn’t a reason for me to cry, but I think the last couple chapters, the emotions and RUTHIE!!! it all got to me!!!

Don’t even get me started on Alex Aquino, anytime he’d bicker/banter with Joey, and he’d hit her with a teasing remark!!!! Goddddd even I found myself speechless (blushing) lolllll
Ahhhh I just loved those two fools 🥹🫶🏼
