I met @hasandpiker AND Angela Davis at the @socialismconference! 😃 I ALSO got @coffinrat's copy of The Communist Manifesto signed by her!!

I am so ENERGIZED and full of IDEAS (and also very tired) from this weekend. I was happy to meet with fellow @demsocialists members, and learn new things!! Follow our @fortwayne.dsa page, I will be posting more on that page of what we learned and takeaways for how we can work on our politics, locally.

Angela Davis book signing!

The guy recording Hasan's twitch stream was laughing at how I was keke-ing around behind him, lol. Also the woman he is talking to was Mawusi Ture, who is part of the All African People's Revolutionary Party. She picked up the torch of her brother Kwame Ture, who was a huge civil right's activist and her brother was a leader within the Black Panthers. She ended up hugging me on another panel (that's another story), and I just realized that I had met her right after this during a Black / Asian panel on how we need to combine forces and work together!!

Angela Davis had been talking about how everyone should read the Communist Manifesto - and I hsf a copy right on my book bag that night!

She has a pretty sic signature

My pic with Angela Davis!

My question to the Chairs of National DSA about how to get more people involved!

Hasan's chat was called out by my question and it was HILLAIR! They also enjoyed the Hoosier mention.

Co chair answering my questions - our chapter is already doing a lot of this, thankfully!!

OUR DSA KING. Also low key liked how he said Spite is a big motivator for him, and how it is what keeps me going to. Because, TBH we SHOULD be angry!! #hateyouroppressor

BE BOLD BE BRAVE Y'ALL.

ANGELA DAVISSSS

Lol my first Hasan sighting

My second Hasan sighting

This was becoming a running joke for me throughout the day, if you couldn't tell

This is when Hasan's cameraman told me to move over by Hasan to get "a better angle" to take a pic with him!! HE WAS SO NICE

Allen County BiCentennial mural finished! 💖🎀💐 Honored to have been selected to create one of these pieces for Zanesville!

Included in this piece is not only our state bird and flower (cardinal and peony) - but our state insect - the firefly!! How cute is that? We have the best state insect IMO! On the back is a bit of Zanesville history, showcasing Knights department store - which was a center of commerce for Zanesville, in their foundling days.

Can’t wait to see this one placed in its forever home!! @allencounty200 #mural #PublicArtFW #indiana #hoosier by @kimcheemoon

Austin and I are engaged!! 💍 He pulled it off and actually surprised me while we were strolling around Lakeside Rose Gardens. Our friend @abby.wild.t popped out of NOWHERE singing a beautiful cover of our song Leather and Lace, AS well as surprise engagement photos taken simultaneously by @joshua_ihrie!!

I knew it was coming soon but DID NOT expect to be serenaded (I quite literally could not hear anything btw, I was so stunned) and to have photos taken at my favorite time, Golden Hour in the Rose Gardens - OMG what a fairytale!! 💐🌅

He put so much thought and effort into every detail, including my beautiful ring. Instead of
a diamond, he designed a unique piece with our birthstones - pink tourmaline and alexandrite! And they just happen to ALSO be my favorite colors!! He knows me so well!! 🩷💜

Love you Austin!! Cannot wait to get married and spend the rest of my life with you, the leather to my lace. 💒 by @kimcheemoon

I CANNOT WAIT TO VOTE THESE REPUBLICAN COUNCILMEN OUT!!

Also, since the council cannot do their job and approve funds for the resource center, how do people feel about crowdsourcing for it?? If we raised 5k for NWI disaster relief in two days, could we do that for this, as well?

Thoughts, chat? by @kimcheemoon

Dolly, Tim AND NOW Kusama?! 😢 We have lost some real ones, in the past 24 hours.

Here are some pics of @coffinrat and I from ten years ago, when we went to DC for a first ever exhibition of several of her Infinity Rooms, in one space. Since then, you have seen replicas of these being made, and you may not have known who had originally created the idea of them!! IT WAS MY GIRL YAYOI!!

Also if you haven't seen Legend, it is my absolute most favoritttteee Tim Curry movie. You have unicorns, goblins and Tim as the devil, it is SOOO GOOD! One of the very first fantasy movies I remember watching as a kid, and the aesthetics of that film are still an inspiration, to me.

And lastly, with Dolly - she was such a wonderful person to have in our lifetime. She could have been a billionaire but since she was so charitable and gave hundreds of millions away to charities, she never became one. Her reach even spread to a Imaginarium reading program for kids here in FTW, and Public libraries across the country. A national treasure, she was.

The Fine Arts just took a heavy hit. Hope they are all partying together, rn. 👼✨️ by @kimcheemoon

2 days, over $5,000 dollars raised, and COUNTLESS hours of people's time, labor, and energy, expended. Great JOB, everyone!! 👏👏👏

We filled up a U-Haul's worth of supplies in NE Indiana, and then a crew caravanned 3 hours across the state to deliver those goods to our neighbors in the "Region" NW Indiana. We even ended up grabbing some volunteers along the way, from @northernindianadsa, to help unload in NWI! All in all, let's just say the community CAME THROUGH!

Thank you to @ajahallh for consistently updating the status of residents in Gary and the Region area to be able to finally recieve National news coverage and hold our Institutions accountable, for going weeks without having power. We hear that she just recieved her power back, and we hope that the rest of the city of Gary will be back to normal soon.

Thank you to @hotmessnation of @thepaintedladyfw for rallying @slinginsunshine and @kimcheemoon to the cause!! So grateful for Katie Jo's years and experience of activism within this space, who has been Nourishing our Neighbors for years, and using that platform to amplify this call to action.

And a final THANK YOU so much to everyone who donated money and supplies!! The people of Gary and East Chicago were overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity recieved from their friends, family, and neighbors, here. 🫶

Solidarity, y'all!! 🌹 by @kimcheemoon

Anyways, now that I have yoir attention! TONIGHT is public comments at City Council!! And if you haven't already, check out @fortwayne.dsa! We keep everything up to date with what is going on within our city and where you can show up to help! ALSO - I created the slides on our most recent post, and I am vv proud of them. 🥹

Being a part of DSA has helped to get me offline and into our community, doing real work to help advocate for change!

Our next General Body Meeting is this Monday 8/24!! Lmk if you want to help or be a part of one of the FASTEST growing chapters in the midwest!! *flips hair behind her ✨️

Also, unironically using Grimes' new song to boost the algorithm, plus I know how much she hates her horrible baby's daddy. Gurl, we all do too, and his yucky swasticars. by @kimcheemoon
