POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

THE GERMAN CHRISTMAS MARKET SERIES

A strip from Centenary Square to The Bullring is converted to a hell of novelty mulled wine cups and overpriced burgers. The middleclass of the country flocks to gawk at the entirely artificial transformation of central Brum which, through the alchemy of capital, has been transformed from anti-space to wonderland.

This alchemy relies on the displacement of Birmingham’s rough sleepers, implicitly in the street’s forcible transition, and explictly in the army of private security that patrols past the stalls. The state criminalises homelessness 12 months a year, and for an additional 3 months of the year BCC marginalises rough sleepers further through the very spacial fabric of the city.

HUNTING VAMPIRES: In Search of Seattle Mariners’ “Vampire Night”. A Jon Bois Rip-Off.
-
When you randomly stumble across a Twilight promotional night that took place over 10 years ago in a city thousands of miles from you, what is one to do except get obsessed with it for 9 months?
-
I started writing about Twilight Night early this year, and finally finished the final video in October, just as the Seattle Mariners began the ALCS series. I’ve had the privilege of working with some amazing people this year on some great projects, but sometimes it’s great to bunker down and tell a story without worrying about the faff of working with others. This is my contribution to that tradition for the year.

Where do the people at the Christmas market really come from, and will any security guards tell me what they actually spend their time doing?

Back in July, with the hastily organised help of friends, I shot "Brick & Mortar" for tgirlvideoclub.
-
"We all decay, and it’s hard not to fall in love when it’s happening before your eyes. Brick & Mortar is a confession from the heart to a rotting building scheduled for renovation, and a translucent window into the author’s queer self-discovery."
-
Great excuse to do some snooping around an old building, and to get oddly emotional about it. All set to the amazing score of @tom_gage_music <3 by @kimncamera
