Analogue photography belongs on a wedding day for more than just how it looks. The aesthetic matters, of course, but film also creates a different kind of record, one shaped by limit, materiality, permanence, and the possibility of becoming part of your history rather than just another gallery on a screen. Καλό μήνα! And welcome, October 🍂

Autumn means lots of editing and somehow, still lots of shoots! I try to be as social on here as I can, but I’m usually out chasing light before retreating into the depths of my editing cave.

So I thought I’d use this post to reintroduce myself. For those who’ve been here a while, I see you and I love you. And for the newbies:
Hi, I’m Kimon! Your friendly destination wedding and elopement photographer who loves running around the Greek islands with you.

And here’s me this summer, attempting to be in front of the camera for once. On film, naturally.

Rather than drone on about myself, I’ll leave you with a little Anaïs Nin, because this pretty much sums up where my head is at right now:

“I don’t really want to become normal, average, standard. I want merely to gain in strength, in the courage to live out my life more fully, enjoy more, experience more. I want to develop even more original and more unconventional traits.”

I wish you kids the same this month. Live more fully, enjoy more, experience more. Be a little unconventional.

September is a feeling and also my favourite colour palette.

It’s an opportunity to find a different rhythm. Back to your favourite café. A new cardigan because it’s time to start layering again. Slower meals and new recipes. And that new fragrance you’ve been thinking about? It’s time. Mornings ask for a fresh notebook because September always feels like the right time for one.

The French call it la rentrée, the return after summer. We don’t really have an equivalent in Greek. Maybe επιστροφή is enough. Or simply, καλό φθινόπωρο.

But September isn’t the end of summer or the start of something new. September, to me, is a return to yourself.

Two people moving through a city of memory. 🤍

Athens, ever-growing, ancient and modern all at once. There’s nostalgia here. It seeps into the dusty streets. Old and new coexist as if time doesn’t matter.

Love is a little like that. It grows with time, old memories and new ones being made, existing together, keeping us gentle and open to what comes next.

When you commit to slow mornings, when you practice stillness, you notice the change of light. Everything gets brighter and warmer, not darker and cooler. That’s why sunrises are my favourite.

In Oia, the village is perched on the cliff. The sunrise meets it there. It doesn’t stretch across the ground, it floods in. The light is cinematic.

And when you’re with someone, please practice that same stillness. Slow down enough to notice them. There’s something beautiful about paying attention to the person beside you in this way. You get to see them become brighter, too. And maybe that’s what makes a life together cinematic.

Welcome August & καλό μήνα 🌅

The 1st of this month has kinda been significant to me. It marks the beginning of the last half of summer (at least in Greece), a reminder that these days are meant to be lived to the fullest and month full so much to look forward to.

It’s Leo season ♌️ where we get to express ourselves, create, and lean into what brings us joy.

With that, I want to thank Liz & Taylor for trusting my process during their engagement and elopement session I’m sharing above from Milos. They gave me the space to express, create and experiment with what brings me joy.

Honoured to be part of the @melitzazz Festival this year.

The festival invited artists to respond to this year’s theme, κοινότητα (community). My submission is a diptych titled Alone Together.

Here’s the artist statement that accompanies the work:

Photographed on analogue film in Milos, this diptych began as an observation of bodies gathering at the edge of the island to watch the sunset. The figures share a physical space, but not necessarily a social one. They remain separate, absorbed in their own gestures, conversations, and silences, while briefly participating in the same moment.

They do not become a single whole, but rather separate lives moving in parallel. What interests me is this tension between proximity and distance: the way a crowd can exist without becoming a collective. Here, community is not defined by unity, but by coexistence, rhythm, and the temporary sharing of a common horizon. #melitzazz2026 taken in Leonídion, Greece by @kimon
