Spike Lee @officialspikelee just shared the lifesize Patrick Ewing painting he acquired from me last year. He’s also had it signed by the Hoya Destroya himself.

Creativity doesn’t just make beautiful things. Sometimes it puts a life back together.

Before he was known as @king.overman , Kevin was a kid who couldn’t stop drawing. That instinct led him into music, where he built a 20-year career as a DJ and producer, traveling the world and living inside sound. But years later, after thyroid cancer and a season of anxiety, exhaustion, and recovery at home with two small children, he found himself searching for something quieter.

He picked up a pencil again. Then a paintbrush. One large painting turned into another. And slowly, art became more than expression. It became balance. It became peace. It became a way back to himself.

That return gave birth to Hardwood Army, powerful, life-sized portraits that don’t just hang on walls, but hold presence in a room.

“It gave me balance. It gave me a place.”
“Art really just saved my life.”

We’re honored to share King Overman’s full story, a journey through creativity, illness, recovery, and the healing power of making.

New York waited 53 years.

‘The Blue and Orange’ celebrates the Knicks’ historic title, with the starting five painted at monumental scale.

Measuring 9’2” × 6’4”, this painting is the 50th in my Hardwood Army series - a body of work exhibited at Brooklyn Museum and collected by Spike Lee.

This is my contribution to New York sports history

New York won, so I painted it. 🏀🏀🏀

This is ‘The Blue and Orange’, a 9 x 7 foot painting with a life-size #knicks starting five. Also featuring an NYC street map with a marker for Madison Square Garden.

I’ve had more love and support for my art in New York City than any place in the world. So it’s only right to pay homage to the city after their incredible win ❤️❤️❤️🍏

If you’d like to enquire about this piece or any other, drop me a DM
