If I were asked why I do this — why coaching, why athlete development, why pour this much into other people’s kids and their goals. Truth is, I don’t always have the words for it. It’s not just a job to me. It’s something I believe I was made for.
1 Peter 4:10 says, “As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” I believe coaching is the gift God gave me. And a gift isn’t something you’re supposed to sit on — it’s something you’re supposed to give away. Every rep, every early morning, every hard conversation with an athlete who needs to hear the truth — that’s me trying to be a good steward of what I’ve been handed.
But stewardship isn’t just what I do on the field. It’s who I am off it too. I can’t ask an athlete to trust the process, show up when it’s hard, and keep believing when the results aren’t there yet if I’m not living that out myself. My walk has to match my words. That’s the standard I hold myself to — not because I’m perfect at it, but because I take the assignment seriously.
James 1:12 says, “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” Coaching has taught me that endurance is the whole game — for me and for every athlete I work with. The wins are great. But what I actually love is watching someone push through the part where they want to quit, and come out the other side different. Stronger. Sure of who they are.
That’s why I do this. Not for the highlight reel. Because I believe this is my calling, and I want my life to reflect that every single day — not just when the cameras are on.

Be proud of the resilience you’ve shown, the hearts you’ve touched, and the strength you’ve discovered within yourself when you thought you had none left. At 35, you stand at a powerful intersection of youth and wisdom, carrying forward the lessons of your past while remaining open to the countless teachings still to come.
