👘 一期一会 • Ichi-go Ichi-e
“One time, one meeting.”
A once-in-a-lifetime moment. 🍵

There was something incredibly grounding about putting on a kimono, slowing down, and experiencing the quiet intention of Japanese tea time.

The kimono carries centuries of Japanese tradition and artistry. For me, wearing one became a reminder of grace, presence, culture, and honoring the moment I am in.

And tea time offered something I think we forget to give ourselves often enough:

Stillness. 🧘🏼‍♀️

No rushing to the next thing.
No trying to fix yesterday.
No worrying about what tomorrow might bring.

Just breathing. Observing. Sipping. Being.

Zen teaches us the value of being fully present—and life transitions often ask us to do the same.

Sometimes we become so focused on where we’re going that we forget there is something sacred about where we are right now.

That is what 一期一会 reminded me:

This cup of tea.
These friends.
This travel adventure.
This version of me.
This season of my life.

None of it will ever exist in exactly this way again.

And maybe growth isn’t always about rushing toward the next chapter.

Sometimes growth looks like becoming still enough to appreciate the chapter you’re standing in. 🌿

“Sometimes you don’t choose the transition. The transition chooses you.”

So today, I choose to honor the moment.

🎂 100 YEARS OF GRACE, LOVE & LEGACY 💕

September 3rd, my beautiful Grandma celebrated her 100th birthday! 🎉

100 years of life, stories, love, and family that has grown through generations.

I realize just how much of the woman I am today was quietly shaped by her.

Gram’s home is always a place where people are welcome…food cooking, treats baked, a clean, good vibes home & her door always open.

I honestly cannot remember seeing Gram upset or yell at anyone. She has always carried herself with grace, kindness, patience & warmth.

Gram is also an accomplished woman! She had a career as a real estate agent and was an incredible league bowler, earning awards & trophies. 🎳🏆

She showed up for us, supported us, listened, believed in healthy communication & taught us to face life rather than simply numb the difficult parts.

She experienced loss—including saying goodbye to my grandfather after 67 years of marriage & later losing 1 of her 2 sons—yet continues through life with remarkable grace.

And at 100, she still sits at her vanity to put on her makeup 💄, dresses stylishly 👗👢 & takes pride in herself.

The older I get, the more I recognize how many little pieces of her live in me.

Why do I love having a clean, welcoming home?
Gram 💕

Why do I want people who walk through my door to feel comfortable & cared for?
Gram 💕

Why do I love feeding people, hosting, making a fresh bed for a guest, putting myself together, showing up for those I love & leading with kindness?
Gram 💕

That is legacy. 🙌🏼

Legacy isn’t only what we leave behind someday. It’s what we pour into people while we’re still here.

It’s the traditions we continue without realizing where we learned them. The way we love because we watched you love. The home we create because yours made us feel safe & welcome.

So much of what I value about being a woman, mother, friend, entrepreneur & human being has Gram’s fingerprints on it.

What an extraordinary gift & blessing to call her my Grandma. 💕

Happy 100th Birthday, Gram. 🎂💐

Your life has touched generations.
And your legacy is still being lived. 💕✨

✨ Another certification is underway! 📚🧠
Excited to share that, in addition to completing 2 of my Life Coach certifications(3 in progress), I’m currently certifying in Lifestyle & Habit Change Coaching — I’m fascinated by what I’m learning!

💫Life Transition Coaching focuses on the bigger picture: navigating changes in relationships, careers, identity, goals, loss, relocation, & personal growth.

🧠 Lifestyle & Habit Change Coaching focuses on the DAILY: the behaviors & routines we repeat & whether they support the life we want to create.

One concept I love is habit replacement.

If your routine is:
6 p.m. → home from work → beer 🍺

Rather than simply removing the behavior(not sustainable), you can intentionally build a new behavior/habit:

6 p.m. → home → change clothes → gym or walk 🏋🏼‍♀️

With consistent repetition, we begin practicing a healthier response to an established cue.

I’m also learning how flexibility habits can make habits more sustainable. Instead of “I MUST work out at exactly 5 p.m.,” your commitment might be:

“I’ll exercise today between 4–8 p.m.”

Same goal. More flexibility. Less all-or-nothing thinking.

Fixed habits=brushing teeth daily 🦷🪥

I love learning the psychology & neuroscience behind why we do what we do & how intentional changes can become healthier patterns.

Because transformation isn’t only about making one huge life decision. ❌ 🧐

Sometimes transformation happens through the seemingly small choices we repeat every single day. 🧠✨

I can’t wait to incorporate these tools into my coaching practice!

Life doesn’t necessarily require a restart, sometimes It only requires growth and intention to elevate.

We make plans. We create timelines. We imagine exactly how the next chapter is supposed to look.

And then life says… Plot twist. 😂

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is recognize that something has shifted, evaluate your shortcomings or circumstances, give yourself permission to adjust, and intentionally grow through jt.

You can change the plan without abandoning the goal.

You can outgrow an old version of yourself and elevate into an improved version.

As Dolly Parton said:

“Find out who you are and do it on purpose.” ✨

Life coaching isn’t about giving someone all the answers. It’s about helping people uncover their own, recognize what’s possible, block out the noise & negativity of what others think is best for you, and move forward with intention, a vision & goals to support it.

Because sometimes you don’t need a whole new life…or to run back to the old one in fear or because it is comfortable.

You simply need the courage to Elevate. ☀️🌻

“Some love never leaves us. It simply learns how to travel with us.”

When my Darius left the nest & moved to Pacific Beach, he went to a beach street fair & bought himself an elephant statue. 🐘 He was SO proud of it & couldn’t wait to show me.

It sat on his nightstand beside his bed.

Today, it sits in my office, on my desk, facing the door. 🐘💙

Elephants have long represented strength, wisdom, loyalty, family, memory, and protection. And I love that his elephant now sits where I can see it as I work—facing outward, almost like a quiet guardian at the entrance to this next chapter of my life.

And that is exactly why I went to Thailand.

Seeing the elephants wasn’t simply something I did while I was there. They were the reason I chose to go.

I intentionally made this journey to Thailand to stand beside these incredible animals and honor my son. 😇🐘🇹🇭💙

For D.

For the elephant he once proudly showed his mama.

For the memories that still make me laugh.

For the love that death could never take away.

And for the reminder that grief doesn’t require us to stop living in order to prove how deeply we loved someone.

Sometimes honoring them means living more intentionally.

Seeing the world.
Taking the trip.
Standing beside the elephants.
Doing some of the things they never had the opportunity to do.

And carrying them with us when we go. 💙

And then there is the scripture…

“Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles.” — Isaiah 40:31 🙏🏼

The same scripture engraved on Darius’s headstone. 🪦💙

Of all the verses about strength that could accompany this journey, somehow it was his verse.

Strength doesn’t mean I stopped missing him.

Strength is carrying the love, the memories, and the grief—and continuing to live the life God has given me.

From an elephant on his nightstand in Pacific Beach…

to his mama standing beside elephants in Thailand.

Full circle. 🐘💙
