**Don't miss this special program, scheduled for this Saturday, October 17 at 2PM at the Parkway Central Branch of the Free Library!**

In January 2026, a group of local genealogists, artists, librarians, and neighbors from Southwest Philadelphia embarked on a six-month journey of shared discovery through the Legacy Lab Black Genealogy Club. Legacy Lab was a joint project of the Free Library of Philadelphia and House of Zamani, funded by the Hyperlocal Heritage Grant.

The Legacy Lab was created and led by filmmaker, photographer, and writer Eboni Zamani with the goal of celebrating America's 250th Anniversary by "empowering Black community members to research, document, and share their unique family histories."

In this special program, Eboni and her team will screen the 25-minute documentary film they created while facilitating Legacy Lab. The film captures the challenges and triumphs participants experienced while uncovering their family histories and serves as a moving tribute to the bonds formed within this community of curious and dedicated researchers. by @kingsessinglibraryflp
