Friday's Fun Fact
After losing their first game, Charles's team falls apart. They blame (and shame) their friend and teammate. So at practice, the team sits down to discuss what it means to be a team player. They all grab some post-it notes and pencils, and jot their ideas down. The illustration shows ten sticky notes which were actually handwritten by the fabulous illustrator, Robert Roberson, Jr. to showcase the players' different ideas.

Let's Play Catch
Charles is excited to play in his first baseball game, but things don’t go as planned. After the team loses, everyone blames his friend. Can Charles and his teammates learn that winning (and losing) is something a team does together? This is a story about shared responsibility, self-confidence, and the power of community.

Friday's Fun Fact

The opening scene of the book shows Charles standing alone on the baseball field. This particular illustration is called ‘field of dreams.' Illustrator Robert Roberson, Jr. was inspired by the 1989 movie. As Charles stands there, reflecting on his first game as a baseball player, he appreciates the journey that brought him to this moment.
