Grim Tidings by BK Borison
Rating 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 ✨️

BKB is an autoread author for me and this one hit pretty good. Underneath this story filled with humor and dashes of romance is the theme of living while you have the chance. I loved watching Darcy experience all those little things she missed as a mortal and wished that could have been more of the story.

The idea of Darcy and Gabriel, a reaper and a guardian, is briliant. Their push and pull as they figured out love and loss was well written.

Of course the real MVPs are Frank and Tater Tot. My copy of the book ends with Tot's POV. After predicting the end of the story, this bonus chapter caught me off guard and had me weeping on a plane as I finished the book.

The Knave and the Moon by Rachel Gillig
Rating 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

This is a story of history repeating itself and what it means to reflect on the repetition to improve the future. The writing is beautiful and it wraps this duology in a lovely bow.

Because of the repetition, though, the conflict felt more frustrating than infuriating. On its own, this book is a great adventure with a love story I'm obsessed with. But as a follow up to the first book, I wanted a bit more from it.

Of COURSE I love Bartholomew. And, boy, what I'd give for a Maude prequel. I want to learn more about the Bauer women.

Sea of Tranquility by Emily St John Mandel
Rating 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Thank you @maythecliche for this rec! It was fun to read something different and outside of my typical choosing.

This book was a fun ride of not knowing what was really going on until the last 10-15% of the book.
But the POVs and the exploration of different centuries keeps you going. Reading about pandemics was a little uncomfortable and we learn through Olive's book tour that sexism is alive and well 200 years from now....

I wanted more resolution. I could have just used a little more exploration in the consequences of what Gaspery did or how the anomaly affected anything other than weirding out the people involved (if it did at all). Overall, the narration was wonderful and this time traveling trip was so interesting.

I love soup. I love books.
Let's get cozy and have both!

What's your favorite soup?

Mine is Tom kha gai from my local Thai restaurant, but I had to leave it out. What books would you recommend for a coconut chicken soup with such complex flavors?!

I'm so excited to meet Darcy and Gabriel.

I'm also terrified to take off that sticker.

Anyone else have this on their TBR?

What makes for a perfect reading day to you?

I can make most days a perfect reading day. Whether it's putting in an audiobook as I'm thrifting or lighting a candle and reading on my couch at night. I try to read in the morning, too, with my coffee!

Nora Goes Off Script by Annabel Monaghan
Rating 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 ✨️

I decided to start my Annabel Monaghan journey here and I'm so glad I did.

There are so many things about this book that should, on paper, drive me crazy. Kids in books, no communication, miscommunication... but I loved this story.

The simple writing and quick pacing made it so addictive to read! I loved the no nonsense progress of the relationship between Leo and Nora. So easy, so adorable. And the kids were written rather well. I often find kids in books, especially their dialogue, to be unbelievable. These kids were real and the relationship they build with Leo was lovely.

The time apart between Leo and Nora of course irked me. And it went on a bit long. But I was so locked in, I didnt really care. I loved this story!

Field Guide for the Formerly Villianous by Autumn K England
Rating 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 ✨️

This was lovely story with simple side characters and a lot of heart. It showed how the people in a community truly take care of each other and how friends (and a bit of magic) can make all the difference in our healing and growth.

I needed this sweet story in my life.
Thank you @sourcebooks.audio for the gifted copy of this audiobook!

Doomsdate by Laura Piper Lee
Rating 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Release Date: September 15, 2026

I really liked a lot of this book! Not only is it a dark comedy, I was surprised at how this story hit all the emotions. There are some very lovely moments and reflections as our characters learn and grow together and I laughed through the absurdity of this apocalypse!

I loved our MCs. Their differences helped the other come alive and I believed that their situation could turn their lust into the real deal.

I loved the adventure! From camping, to meeting Julio and Corrine in NYC! And seeing the operations at West Point.

Overall, LPL writes another hilarious book that mixes horror, heartbreak, and heroism. I had fun.

Thank you @dell and @Netgalley for the ARC!
