It started with a simple idea after seeing a Black author speak about the obstacles of marketing a book as a new author. From there, it’s turned into something more.

When I first came up with this idea, I didn’t know how long or how many books I’d support, but I did know that I needed a dedicated team of people.

Meet, Margins to the Middle.

I’m so happy this group took a chance on this project and I’m even happier to the marginalized authors we’ve helped along the way, even if it’s just a small nudge, feeling their gratitude has been so special.

Here’s to working with more authors in the future!

Please share far and wide and help marginalized authors market their book babies!

💬 𝗤𝗢𝗧𝗗: What makes a good character arc? …or… Name a book couple you think made it past the epilogue!

𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗙 𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪:
Kaia Harper, recent college graduate, has no interest in love. And no interest in her degree. Without a plan, she moves home. Turns out her sister, Zola, does have an interest in love… as a matchmaker. As a favor to her sister, Kai signs on as XO by Zo’s first client. The only thing standing in the way? One Ro Jackson, who doesn’t scare easily. Will Kai’s insistence on playing it safe and protecting herself ruin the one good guy out there?

𝗠𝗬 𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗦:
Kaia’s character arc might be one of the best I have read. Or at least the best in recent memory. Bitter and standoffish, Kaia was committed to the bit. But Thurman absolutely nailed Kaia’s development. You know how sometimes you read a book and the closed off FMC is all of a sudden open to love and marrying her beau? Not here. Kaia’s development didn’t feel forced or rushed. It came off as incredibly genuine and heartfelt.

Then there’s Ro. My word. I just found a new book boyfriend. Ro’s steadiness refused to give up on Kaia. He didn’t push. He didn’t pester. He didn’t issue ultimatums. He let Kaia think she was in charge and directing the course of the friendship. Meanwhile, Ro waited. He laid his cards on the table and had faith in Kaia. Because of that, I believe Ro and Kaia are end game.

Don’t Tell Me How It Ends is a book about relationships—romantic relationships, friendships, parent-child relationships, sibling relationships—and I’m here for them all. This book is tenderness and vulnerability.
