Creating immersive theatre for, by and with young people. Our Adventures in Learning erupt in classrooms and wherever young people gather.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Thurrock Based Project Managers we are looking for you!

KIT Theatre is recruiting a Project Manager with experience working with young people to lead the delivery of our Bridge Adventures Programme across Thurrock. We are particularly keen to hear from applicants who live in Thurrock or neighbouring boroughs.

Bridge Adventures are multi-episode, immersive Adventures in Learning that connect young people to their local, cultural venues. The projects have been designed to begin in school, where they support pupils’ creative development and curriculum. The missions which drive each adventure then takes pupils out into their local creative community, where they share their creative work at a finale event in a local venue. KIT’s Bridge Adventures are subsidised through funding from @aceagrams and @startthurrock, Cory Fund among others.

The Bridge Adventures Project Manager will be joining KIT’s small HQ team of 3, and our wider family of 30 freelance artists who are at the heart of our delivery.

We recognise that creative careers are unique. With this in mind, you do not need to have experience in every one of the criteria in the Job Pack, but if you believe your career and lived experience has prepared you well for this role, we encourage you to apply, and demonstrate your transferable skills.

Connection to Thurrock: We are particularly keen to hear from candidates based in Thurrock or neighbouring boroughs.

We are committed to being an equal opportunities employer and encourage people from a wide variety of backgrounds and lived experience to apply. We particularly encourage applications from Black people, people from the Global Majority, and candidates who self-identify as disabled. All candidates who self-identify as disabled and who demonstrate that they meet the essential criteria will be invited for an interview, in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Closing date for applications: Monday 2nd November 10am

Our time travelling characters discover the world through eyes that are hundreds of years old and often find themselves face to face with modern technology that astounds!

It’s easy as a performer to forget that if you are playing someone from a Tudor Court, you’ve never seen a mobile telephone before. Thankfully our @bryony.franciss improvisational skills never fail 💅🏾

We have now wrapped up our Wardrobes Bridge Project in Thurrock for another year, where we headed into schools, libraries and the streets of Chadwell St Mary to soak up the local history, give young people the space to tell their own stories & and delve into a new art trail made by people in the community and @lucy_mcdonald_arts.

A massive thank you to our producer Joanna Riddout, who brought together a huge breadth of artists, teachers, community hubs, young people & families in this epic adventure.

See you next year?! 🙏🎨📚✨

What would you do if an alien crash-landed in your primary school? 🚀💥🌍

Our show, An Alien Arrives, has toured all of Gateway Learning Community’s Schools in Thurrock this year.

In the show, designed for Key Stage 1, an agent from The Government Office of Strange Happenings (GOSH for short 😉) turns up at school believing that it is the site of a crash-landing of a mysterious egg from outer space. Out of the egg, hatches an alien named Nanoo 🛸, whom they discover in their playground. Over a morning or afternoon, the children show Nanoo their world, teaching her how to speak, play, sing & learn.

On the outside, An Alien Arrives may just appear to be a fun & playful day for kids. But that’s the magic of our signature Adventures in Learning projects, where hands on learning engages the pupils in a unique way.

Here’s just a few things they get up to:
🗣️Children are encouraged to engage with the alien and listen to her unknown language, practicing their communication skills.
✏️Writing activities test them to use different vocabulary.
📚They work as a whole year group to find & teach Nanoo, practising their teamwork.
🪐Science & space are discussed LOADS throughout the day.
🧐Their critical thinking is naturally encouraged through the problem that Nanoo faces of being on Earth - can they help her get home?! (…no spoilers there, I’m afraid)

A huge thank you to our funders, The Paul Hamlyn Foundation @paulhamlynfoundation and to Gateway Learning Community @thegatewaylearningcommunity for supporting our artists to rehearse & deliver this work, which we know has given many Year 2 students a real buzz this year.

And all of this couldn’t have been possible without our sensational performers & facilitators.

Our producer Kat Gill & Trainee Writer Hayley Konadu, attended an Anti-Racism in the Curriculum Conference this June hosted by The Black Curriculum.

Who are The Black Curriculum?
An International Institute who ensures Black histories, cultures and intellectual contributions are taught accurately, critically, and consistently. Give them a follow! @theblackcurriculum ✊🏿💫

Once we found out about the event, we were excited to be a part of the community who gathered, all creating a safe space to discuss a new movement in education.

Black Curriculum described the event as;

“Taking place at a critical moment of national curriculum review, this conference creates space for bold thinking, practical learning and collective responsibility around what an anti-racist curriculum must look like in real classrooms.”

Kat & Hayley represented KIT Theatre at the Conference at the Lilian Baylis Technology School on the 29th June & were truly inspired by the talks given by keynote speakers such as Amber Ogunsanya-William @playworkeramber and Frances Akinde @inclusion_ht .

We are already implementing some of the practical techniques from the day of how to embed anti-racist practice into learning.

Thank you Black Curriculum for providing this space to pave the way for a better future where representation, equity and historical accuracy are ESSENTIAL.

👏🏽📚👏🏼🔥👏🏿

We’ve just completed Week 5 of our Classbot Tour with @potentialdifference.theatre 💪

We’re a team of women and non-binary immersive theatre cast and crew delivering an epic storyline about an AI humanoid robot that’s being tested in schools.

Laughing, eating treats, drinking lots of coffee, performing, planning, teching, zooming (video calls AND literally across London in 2x tube strikes!), singing, coding, dancing, and escaping are part of every week.

A phenomenal team. A thrilling adventure.

Cool girls/enbys really do have cool jobs at KIT Theatre 🤖✨💃☕️

In 2025, we completed the first year of our New Shores programme, in collaboration with @arcade_hello and funded by @paulhamlynfoundation, @nationallotterygoodcauses and @aceagrams

We worked with four different schools across Scarborough, delivering 74 creative sessions and engaging with over 370 children. But numbers alone don't give a full picture of the work - swipe along to watch a video capturing the project so far.

We're so proud to be a part of this work in North Yorkshire, and the best thing is, we've still got one year of New Shores to go!

Massive shout out and gratitude to Arcade, @scarboroughmuseums, and all the incredible teachers and artists who've delivered the adventures.

We've had a blast in Scarbados, and we're very excited to be hanging around a little longer in 2026! 🏖
