I’m so glad I finally get to share the Pattern Finder with you!

What started as a way to help me keep track of how many different fabrics each of my patterns uses has turned into a tool to help you find a pattern for your next project.

Have a pre-cut and aren’t sure what to make? Choose your quilt size, fabric type, pattern format, and quantity, and the Pattern Finder will show you which of my patterns are a good fit.

And I have almost 100 patterns in my shop, so there are lots to choose from.

You can try it now at kitchentablequilting.com. Let me know if it is helpful or if there is a way that I can make it even better!

A little more about me! If you have any other questions, ask them in the comments 😉

I live in Oregon with my husband (Grumpy Tom), our three kids, and two very large dogs who take up more space than intended.

I started quilting about 15 years ago and eventually turned it into writing quilt patterns and sharing what I learn as I go. Now I have more than 80 quilt patterns in my shop.

When I’m not quilting, I’m usually cooking, reading, or thinking about where we might travel next. Around here you’ll mostly see quilts, works in progress, and the occasional behind-the-scenes look at how patterns come together. Plus a little of my ridiculous family 😜

Glad you’re here.

I finally finished my quilt from the Mini Plaid-ish Quiltalong. This was not a quick project since I attempted (and was mostly successful) to use unique fabrics throughout the quilt. There are just a couple of duplicates.

This quilt is just bursting with everything I love about quilting: rainbow, scrappy, cozy, and crazy. It is going to be a new favorite at my house.

Head over to the blog today to see more photos and read more about this project, plus a link to where I purchased my luxe minky and links to all of the quiltalong posts.

If you are looking for the pattern, click the link in my profile.

I love a quick project, but I’m not ready to be done with this one yet.

Lately I have been feeling the pressure to change things up and keep pace with everything else going on out there. Instead of racing to catch up, I’m focusing on slowing down.

I love making quilts, but I’m not a machine and I think that increasing use of AI makes that distinction more important than ever ❤️ taken in Salem, Oregon by @kitchentablequilting

I have made the Violet Quilt Pattern a whole bunch of times. After sharing my Rifle Paper Co. Home Sweet Home version earlier this week, I thought it would be fun to look back at all of them and remind you that you need to make this pattern!

Swipe through to see how different it looks with each fabric collection. It's great for a rainbow, for large scale prints, for solids, for holiday collections, for your stash, and on and on and on.

Head over to the shop to pick up your copy and use code VIOLET20 to get 20% off for the rest of the week.

Yes, I did make another Rifle Paper Co. quilt.

I made this Violet Quilt with Home Sweet Home as a gift for my mother-in-law, who has been going through cancer treatment this year. When I saw this collection, I knew it was the one I wanted to use for her.

There are lots of light prints and just one dark green print in the collection, so Violet was a great fit. The small squares let me spread that darker fabric throughout the quilt without having it take over.

Green is the color I’m least comfortable working with, but I’m trying to use it more! Pure Solids in Rosemary ended up being just right for the background. I finished it with curved corners, dark green binding, and my favorite print from the collection on the back.

We gave her the quilt a few days ago, and I’m so happy with how it turned out. Making a quilt with a particular person in mind always makes the process feel a little more special.

You can find more photos and all of the fabric details at kitchentablequilting.com

I would say this is actual my #1 tip to helping your piecing look better, no matter the fabric, but pinning is especially important for woven fabrics.

Normally I don’t bother pinning little squares, but these fabrics are different textures, some are thick, some are thin, some are super stretchy. Pins help. Treat them gently and your effort will be rewarded because they make gorgeous quilts.

What is your number one tip for sewing with woven fabrics?

The Fiona Quilt is the Pattern of the Week! If you are looking for a simple pattern that lets you play around with color and value, this is a really fun project. You can arrange your fabrics by value, create a rainbow effect, or combine the two — I have even made a scrappy rainbow version.

I had a great time playing around with lots of different fabric collections for this week's mockups. The placement of different colors and values creates so much movement radiating out from the center of the quilt, and the squares are large enough to really show off your favorite prints.

One of my favorite things about this pattern is how different it can look depending on your fabric choices. You can keep things simple with a coordinated collection or mix things up with scraps from your stash. There are so many possibilities!

Head over to kitchentablequilting.com to read more about this pattern and to pick up your copy!

I wanted to answer a couple of questions people have had about stolen quilt patterns.

1. How can you tell if the image is AI?
2. How can you find the real pattern if you think it is stolen?

I only sell my PDF patterns in my shop, so if you see another website selling my PDF patterns, those are stolen.

I do sell paper patterns through trusted quilt shops so as long as those are sold in nice, high quality booklets with thick paper (and not just printed off versions of the PDF patterns) those are legit.

These fake patterns are very difficult to get taken down, so the best thing we can do is make sure not to buy from them. Thank you for supporting small shops like mine and for trying to be aware of the theft going on out there. Please share to help spread awareness!

Raise your hand if you don’t love making flying geese? 🙋🏻‍♀️

I don’t love making them, but I do love how they look. When I first started quilting, I dreaded trimming them because everything always ended up a little wonky.

This is the best way I have found to trim them so they are less frustrating. But sometimes the occasional goose will end up a little wonky and that’s ok.

Is this how you trim yours? Do you have any additional tips?

I usually try to baste a quilt as soon as I finish the quilt top.

But sometimes life gets busy, and suddenly I have several quilt tops sitting around making me feel guilty. When that happens, I try to buckle down and baste them all at once.

Doing everything assembly-line style (baste them all, quilt them all, and then bind them all) helps streamline the process and gets a lot done in a short-ish amount of time.

So, if you have a stack of quilt tops staring at you, this is your sign to get them basted. You are so close to having a finished quilt!
