She’s here — our sweet Davey Grace, who has transported us into an inexplicable, wonderful new dimension.

We heard her cries for the very first time last Friday, 1/23 at 2:34pm, and instantly felt something profound shift in our souls. Our 9 lb 2 oz, 21.5 inch angel joined us after 41 weeks 6 days of being in my body. 48 hours of laboring led us to the c-section that brought us our beautiful girl.

Nothing went as expected which I’ve been told is to be expected when it comes to birth, and at every turn, our “whatever happens, we’re together” mantra carried us through.

Through those early labor pains, the throwing up, the sleepless nights into the news that I was still at 0cm after 24 hours of pain, onto titanic contractions, an epidural I’m very thankful for, and then 4 hours of pushing without seeing much progress, the journey to meeting Davey required lots of deep breaths, tears, and Josh and I staring into each other’s eyes to calibrate and connect as we navigated each turn and new decision. All the way from our original plans to deliver at the Birth Center to “it may be time for a c-section,” to finally getting discharged on Monday, Josh was my rock. I never quite knew what it felt like to say & mean that phrase til now.

I can’t believe this all started one week ago today, and now I’m sharing this news from our dimly lit room at 6am as I peacefully breastfeed my perfect baby girl and hear the sounds of Josh heading out the door to take my mom & sister to the airport.

Endless thanks to the two of them, who happened to have their flight booked to land the hour we decided to head to the hospital, and then were able to support us the whole rest of the way through.

What a week it’s been. We are so elated and grateful that Davey is finally here, healthy, angelic, and ours to love forever.

Let the adventure begin.

On Monday, we spent the afternoon doing a parts work exercise together, which is probably what 22-year-old me would have described as the perfect "date," having never been on one. (lol)

⛰️
On Tuesday, we played basketball, wearing backwards hats, surrounded by mountains, and teased each other around, which is probably what 8-year-old me wanted to be doing instead of drowning in worry.

In December, we walked under the St. Louis arch in the rain, letting ourselves have a "heart-to-heart," which is probably what 16-year-old me wished for when writing letters to his "future wife". (also lol)

This Wednesday, we move her things across miles to her new place in MN, which is precisely what 28-year-old me wants to happen. (💚)

(I know, big sappy & happy luv post........) But despite plenty to grieve (more & more, it seems), I have been redeeming some of my little life tokens. Here I am, in this week, in this version of me with Emily - so many versions left!
