Hi hello it’s me! 🌻 I’ve been getting some new followers lately so I figured it would be a good time to reintroduce myself.

My name is Kit (she/her) and I’m an artist and graphic designer living in Kansas City. I live in an old house with my dog and 2 tuxedo cats. The dog is definitely the favorite.

Drawing has always been an interest of mine ever since I can remember. I find it simultaneously challenging yet calming. I especially love working on large scale projects. You might spot some of my murals around town.

When I’m not “working”, you can find me riding my bike. I bought a used steel gravel bike during the pandemic and never looked back. I went on my first bike packing trip last fall in the Flint Hills and I can’t wait to do more.

The news has been overwhelming and disturbing lately. It affects all of us whether you feel it right now or not. Call your reps. Get involved in your community. Get off your phone and go on a walk. Ride a bike. Shop local. Wear a mask. Email your reps. What is happening is not normal. Do not normalize it. Take breaks but stay engaged. If we all do a few small things, we can make a difference. by @kitlandwehr

April, May, and June were months big in feelings, family, and friendship.

I generally don’t write anything overly personal on this account but I do sometimes find connection and comfort when other people do so maybe there is something to be gained or given from sharing more.

April started strong with the opening of my first solo show. Not long after, I got the devastating news that my mom has brain cancer. I haven’t drawn or painted anything since and that’s ok. Many people that showed up to support me and my art keep showing up. I’m so lucky to have good friends in this precious little life. Thank you.

A highlight of May was traveling to SF with my bike (and some guilt about leaving my mom) to meet new friends I’d ridden with in AZ. I’m so glad I went because it turned into such a special time and a nice escape from reality. I got a little weepy on the flight home. I wanted to keep riding my bike along the coast and through redwood forests. I also didn’t want to go back to the reality in which my mom was dying.

June didn’t get any easier but being around the people I hold dear did make it alright. Some fun was still had. I don’t think the grief will ever go away but there’s still room for joy to exist alongside it. by @kitlandwehr
