POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

@gritmtbfestival a truly magnificent experience! ✨

There’s so much to say about how amazing this event was! 7 of us road tripped to Eureka Springs from Chicago, bonding and having an absolute blast throughout the trip! I feel so lucky to be part of a group of people that truly wants to lift others up and see their light shine bright! The 6 of us didn’t know @scongles (Reese) heading into the trip, but she fit right in from the moment we all got together at a random Panera. Over the weekend she became the life of the party and found comfort in a group of previously complete strangers. Thank you for taking that leap of faith and joining us, Reese, you’re such a shining star in this universe.

I drove the grand caravan with @thomas_keyrare @onehundredthousandbirds and @biscuitcommashe and never once found stress or anxiety on the road with this crew. @schaumann drove the other car with Reese and @massivethoughthaver We camped in Missouri around the halfway point on the trips there & back and when I tell you there was no tension, ever, only love, omg what a dream!

We made it to Eureka late Thursday & had the balcony at the Basin Park Hotel all to ourselves, where @austin_trace met with us and we talked a lil Grit business.

Over the next 3 days I met so many more wonderful people and had so many fun bike adventures! Unfortunately Thomas took a tumble on Saturday morning, needing stitches, so I drove him to the hospital, which took the majority of the day, but I was thankful for him to get patched up.

Saturday night WENT OFF!! Prizes were won via raffle tickets after @jasmanias_clubhouse put on a top tier drag king performance! Prizes were won via raffle. At the end of the raffle we switched to tickets we’d each received one of & wouldn’t ya know it, I won Mx. GritFest, Bird won Mr. GritFest, and Thomas won Ms. GritFest!! A Chicago sweep of the podium via raffle and all three of us came in the same grand caravan!! WTF!? I was on a whole other planet!!

Sunday was the group ride, where bonds grew stronger, we got to know more sweet beings and only one person truly finished the whole ride, cuz @grrreenware is a total Badass!!

I love you all!! 🫶🩵🩷

If you haven’t had a chance to see my show at @leedyvoulkosartcenter it will be open on Friday from 5-8pm for Kansas City’s first Fridays! Please go check it out. I’ll be hanging out there so say Hi if you see me. And for those that don’t know, the show is celebrating 18 years of my quilt class @kcartinstitute and features work by 27 artists who have taken the class (plus me!). All 📷 by @sanelasart

Three years ago, we went to Arizona for Lael’s Women’s Rally with @komoot.

We didn’t really know what a Rally was. We just knew it involved bikes, camping in the desert and a bunch of women we hadn’t met yet. Sounded good enough.

We came home with new friends, very good memories, a huge boost of confidence and the crazy idea that one day we should do a Rally ourselves.
Well… we did. 😅

That week showed us that maybe we were capable of a bit more than we thought. And we’ll always be grateful to @laelwilcox – and to @isabel.alina, who basically made sure we got ourselves to Arizona in the first place and for giving us that little push.

And now, three years later, Lael has asked GRL PCK and @maiafish to team up with her for her 12th and final Women’s Rally – back in her backyard in Arizona.

Quite the full circle moment. 🌵

It’s also where we first met Maia, who somehow went from “woman we met on a bike trip in Arizona” to “woman we’re now organising a bike trip in Arizona with.” 😂 And many of the other women in these photos are still our friends today.

Turns out these Rally things really do work.

Thank you Lael and Rue for trusting us with this very special last one.

Ballot is open now. Link in bio.
Buckle up. 🤠🌵

Installation for What Quilts Carry is happening! I’m so grateful to all of the alumni who agreed to be in the show. It’s a trip down memory lane thinking about everyone as a student and seeing how far their work has come.

Come by this Friday for the opening! 5-8pm.

Part 1/2
The Boston Mountains Loop gave us rain, fog, mud, cramps, river crossings, wildlife, campfires, and some of the best memories we’ve made on two wheels.

Funny how the hardest moments always become the best stories.

Each spring we round up some girlfriends, book a quirky Airbnb and go play in the dirt.

We spent the last few days riding out of Cushing, OK. The fields were blanketed with paintbrush. The drivers and folks we talked to at the gas stations were the most friendly we’ve ever encountered. We rode a mix of red dirt, twisty oil roads, and quiet pavement. We logged around 250 miles over 4 days.

On Saturday we had planned a side quest ride to McMurtry for the Bobby’s Burgers pop-up at a mountain bike race. It was canceled for trail damage from a storm. After voicing my disappointment to @unlearnpavement he threw a burger party for us after the Monday night Stillwater group ride!

I think we all needed this, but for me it was a great way to shake out some equipment and nerves. The Great Plains Gravel Route starts in 2 weeks!
