A Promise
By Katelynn Kenney

Though the sky darkens and the storm clouds roll in...
Though ICE falls heavy and the truth is worn thin...
I promise,
not all that is Pretti or Good is gone.
As long as we're here, we'll bring a new dawn.

Though tears are shed and babes are made breathless...
Though ICE cracks down and lies are made reckless...
I promise,
not all that is Pretti or Good is dead.
As long as we live, we stand in their stead.

Though rights are revoked and fear is exalted...
Though ICE means death and protectors are faulted...
I promise,
not all that is Pretti or Good has departed.
As long as we breathe, we'll do so wholehearted.

Tomorrow, bright and early, I will be voting for Harris on the Working Families Party line.

For those in NYS, voting Harris-Walz on the WFP line will help ensure that the WFP is on future ballots. Being a political party enables the WFP to spend money, hire staff, send mailers, and more to support progressive candidates in our local races!

NYers, I will also be turning over my ballot and voting YES on Prop 1 and NO on Props 2-6.

Prop 1 adds protections to the State Consitution's Bill of Rights to prohibit discrimination based on ethnicity, origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, and pregnancy outcomes. It will also protect abortion access in NYS!

Voting no on Props 2-6 will keep the mayor from ripping power away from the City Council. More info on that here: https://www.nopowergrabnyc.org/

YOUR VOTE MATTERS. Remember that.

And if you've been feeling discouraged and thinking or planning on not voting, please reconsider. You are not alone in that feeling. I believe, with Harris as president, we can keep fighting for the things we want changed. With Trump, even just looking at one issue - climate - we would only fall backwards and have to fight back to where we are now.

So, tomorrow, if you haven't already voted, I'll see you at the polls! Let's make this "a fifth of November that shall never, ever, be forgot" (because so many more people voted than ever before, and it was an overwhelming victory for Harris)! taken in New York City , USA by @kkenneyplays

Hey friends!
My reading of c h r o n i c is coming up in less than a week, on Monday, June 12th at 3pm!

In addition to direction by Daniella Caggiano, we now have the full cast assembled: Teresa Attridge, Dani Martineck, Joyce Lao, Miranda Poett and me. :)

Hope to see you at the Wild Project soon!

(As for the picture, I came across some funky monsters on my walk and thought a pic with them would be a wee sorta peek into the show.)

Stay safe in this smokey haze!

Hey friends!

What are you doing Monday, June 12th at 3pm?

If you’re free, then swing by and watch the reading of my new play c h r o n i c ! I'm grateful to be working on it with some cool humans and talented artists: @dfcaggiano, @terijoyeaux, @dmartintheneck, and @mmpoett. (Also, I'll be acting in it too??)

It’s about an ambitious artist and horror fan who starts developing strange and increasingly frightening symptoms. As she searches for a diagnosis, she transmutes her symptoms into different monsters and creatures of folklore, and she discovers that there are other, more deceptive, monsters lurking in this ableist world.

Last month was ME/CFS Awareness Month. What is ME/CFS, you may ask? Well, that’s a chronic illness that I and many others have—it can be largely invisible, debilitating, painful, confusing, and isolating. If you want to learn a little bit about what my experience with it is like, please come see this reading.

This play reading is the culmination of my time with the @clubbedthumb Early Career Writers’ Group, and if you can’t see mine on the 12th, please come check out some of the other plays by this lovely and talented group of humans! Also, if you can see mine and want to see more, come see more – here are those dates!

Fri June 9 @ 3pm: @kanishk__pandey
Tue June 13 @ 3pm: @danielagonzalezyperez
Mon June 26 @ 3pm: Emma Horwitz
Tue June 27 @ 3pm: @ni_eu_ki
Wed June 28 @ 3pm: @klwrights

(this post was too late for Sam (Bell) and Hayley (Stahl)’s readings – check out their plays!)

Hello friends!
READING ALERT! I've got a reading of my play 10 YEARS as a part of The Tank's DarkFest & TrashFest, and I get to work with incredible humans Courtney McClellan, Teresa Attridge, and Dani Martineck!
**Save the date - Wednesday, August 3rd @ 7pm EDT!**
Here's a synopsis to pique your interest:
A climate-conscious Etsy store owner raises her child over these next 10 years—through them, we experience Earth’s rearing of humanity and our rebellion against the planet that birthed us.
There's audience interaction and sustainability things and kid shenanigans and strange scale shifting and weird allergy stuff and questions of agency in theatre and in life!
Hope to see you there! Ticket link to come soon! an abstract picture of a mother and child. The mother is made up of the forest and bloom surrounding her. The child is made up of smokestacks and surrounded by city-scape and smog. Poster information for the show 10 Years. taken in The Tank by @kkenneyplays
