Miloh would like to remind everyone that she is the one hustling and putting in the hours at @cleanloopcanine and it would be nothing without her. She performs best in front of a live audience but she was also happy to work in front of the camera to show off a little.

Please enjoy these clips of Winnie the retriever swimming for the first time and Nashadi looking like it’s her first time swimming (it’s not).

Happy fourth and remember, no one is illegal on stolen land. 🏞️🪶🦅

The bargain-bin chauvinist who inspired this trend HAD to know that saying, “Women shouldn’t own dogs over 50 lbs,” would spark some outrage.

You could say I took the bait. The rage bait, that is.

But to be crystal clear, the question never should have been:
“Should women own big dogs?”

The more appropriate question is:
“Why do women feel safer with big dogs?”

The dog’s weight is largely irrelevant because control is an illusion. Sure a little muscle doesn’t hurt BUT what matters more is communication, consistency, training, management, and using the right tools for the individual dog.

If you’re still confused about this—and you’re a man—please resist the urge to explain dogs, women, or physics to me in my DMs.

Thanks @akposton23 for taking the shots. 🎥

I’m hoping now that I’ve scratched the itch and made this reel that this audio will stop playing on repeat in my head. Thanks @the_discerning_dog for the inspiration. One day we will heel as well as Reacher and Sprite but until then I hope you enjoy our front yard production. Nashadi with the big steps and Miloh with the piccolo steps. 🥁🪈

There’s “enrichment” then there’s “extreme enrichment” and Nashadi definitely prefers the latter. These videos perfectly illustrate what to expect from a well-bred athletic South African Mastiff. Regardless of breed all dogs deserve an appropriate outlet. Let this video inspire you to get creative.

Nashadi’s enthusiasm for balloons is only matched by her desire to release her demons during bite work training. If we get our PDC in the future I might have to train neutrality towards balloons but until then I’m going to let her have her fun.

*many balloons were harmed in the making of this video.

The queen and I enjoying some sunshine and building that focused heel so we can do shepherd things and trial. Until then I’m treating every training session like it’s my last.

Thanks for filming @akposton23

Am I attempting a sport to compete in a sport where herding dogs are the majority? Yes.

Am I doing it on hard mode by doing it not only with an off breed but also a mastiff? Yes.

Do I have the best club in the world to learn with? YES @bluegrasswdc

Am I absolutely loving every second of it even in the rain? YES!

Please enjoy a few steps of Nashadi the queen prancing and far more of her trying to figure out WTF I want. We just started a spin finish yesterday so go easy on me. At least she’s not lacking in enthusiasm. 🤪

Thanks @vikelak9 for the solid foundation and for the opportunity to work with my dream dog.

This was Nashadi’s first session training a jump and after a few absolutely beautiful reps I decided it was time for the camera. This girl never ceases to amaze me. I have so much fun with her.

Vet visits with your dog don’t have to feel stressful and chaotic—but a lot of owners aren’t sure which behaviors actually create calmer, safer experiences. And without the right language, communicating your plan to your veterinarian and their team can feel awkward.

When the tech came in and said, “Okay, I’ll take her back now,” I calmly explained that we’d have a safer, more positive experience if she stayed with me.

Important: this wasn’t because Nashadi needed coddling—that would actually set her back. I asked for an exception because we’ve trained a specific behavior for moments like shots, nail trims, and paw handling. When I ask for “nose,” Nashadi understands that touch is likely to follow.

In this video, I first explain to the tech that I’d like to do two “dry runs” where she only pets her. This step matters for a few reasons:
• It prevents Nashadi from immediately anticipating a poke
• It allows the tech to see how strong and consistent the behavior is
• It gives me a chance to evaluate whether Nashadi is ready for the real thing

If she isn’t confidently offering a nose target during simple petting, she definitely won’t handle a needle well.

You’ll notice Nashadi’s slightly stiff posture—she’s a bit on edge, with a subtle lean away from the new person. That’s valuable information. She’s not relaxed, but she’s also not escalating. Since this was our second round of shots, I felt confident proceeding.

When she actually received the shot, she did break her nose target (not ideal), but she didn’t have a negative experience—and that’s the goal. Safe, neutral, and building toward better.

I’ve had many big wins in the past few months since losing my salaried position but not knowing what my income will be from week to week has taken a toll on my mental health. This is why now more than ever, I’m grateful. Grateful to have a home that is safe with a partner who loves me, for friends and coaches who believe in me, grateful for the animals I work with that don’t know or care about the human condition and for my family who somehow tricked me into weekly pickleball and are always a phone call away.

Honest to god I am doing all right but I still love messages from my friends so if you’ve watched this and it resonated with you–don’t be a stranger.

Thanks @thecamwhitcomb for releasing some incredible new songs. If you happen to see this– I became a fan after seeing you live last year. Thanks for singing from the heart.

Video cred to the real MVP @vikelak9

This is my why. Dogs, water, sunshine, and the kind of off-leash freedom that heals me. I hope every dog owner gets to experience this.

After our lesson today, I think it’s safe to say that Miloh has real potential as a search and rescue dog. Prior to this, I had only done some very amateur scent work with her at our local park—but even then, her enthusiasm was impossible to miss.

The president of our working dog club arranged a meet-and-greet with Lisa, who was kind enough to spend time with me and another club member ahead of an official search and rescue practice.

I feel incredibly honored to learn from people like Lisa, who bring years of experience and knowledge to the table.

Please enjoy this clip of Miloh finding club member @tylerhampton88 at what can only be described as Mach 10 speed.

Much fun was had by all puppers and people.
