The symptoms of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome are often missed - that’s why they call us Zebras 🦓… when doctors are in med school, they are told, “when you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not Zebras.” They are told to assume the simplest answer. Problem is, the human body is not that simple and genetics definitely aren’t. EDS, hEDS in our case, is a heritable condition that causes faulty collagen in our connective tissues…all of them. I went 15 years in pain - sometimes unable to walk - with misdiagnosis after misdiagnosis. Last year, I was finally referred to a specialist at Intermountain Health in Billings and she confirmed that hEDS is the culprit. This also led to understanding why my dad and both of my kids have chest wall differences (pectus excavatum and pectus carinatum), recurring lung infections, and asthma. This is why my back, ankles, hips, knees, and shoulders hurt and feel weak. This is not new. There is documentation as early as the Ancient Greeks and modern day medical records show official research in 1901 by doctors Ehlers and Danlos. Taylor is having surgery next month to repair the tendons in her knee because rehab alone isn’t enough to strengthen them…now that they have been torn, they will not heal because the collagen doesn’t work like it is supposed to. She also has differences in her bone structure that make it harder for her joints to stay in place. I spoke with the school nurse last week and felt hopeful that she was familiar with EDS along with the comorbitities that often present (POTS, MCAS). I share this because it is so often ignored. But, if kids can get diagnosed early and learn how to care for their joints, they can mitigate some of the pain and frustration I have ended up with. by @klairdwald

BBC, CNBC, FORBES, NEWSWEEK, REUTERS, WALL STREET JOURNAL are all legit *center* sources. AKA, they don’t get fined and found liable for lies. Fox and Friends are lying liars. Montana Free Press and Associated Press are always trustworthy and not paid by corporations benefiting from tax breaks, the MAGA politicians…Gianforte, Zinke, Sheehy….ahem…Daines, hand out and we will never see. It’s ok if you were duped. I just hope, for the sake of many people you claim to love, you’ll consider exploring other op besides #FoxNews Dark script on background that looks like a white wall with shadows across it. Script reads: Stop freebasing Fox News.
They pay billions in fines because they lie.
