To know this guy, is to love this guy! (scroll to the last picture…he’s always been a freakin’ vibe😂🫶)

If you need someone to make you laugh or remind you that life doesn’t have to be so serious. He’s got you.

If you need someone to show up with all the things you didn’t know you needed. He’ll show up with all of it in tow.

If you need someone who keeps all the things moving and taken care of without one ounce of complaining. I’m telling you, he’s the best guy for the job.

And most importantly, if you need someone to love you, unconditionally, through the ugliest parts of life…he’s already there.

He’s picking up the pieces. He’s leaving what no longer fits. He’s always 10 steps ahead and making adjustments when he sees a new, easier path. He sees all the sides and gives empathy anyway.

He’s the calm to almost anyone who knows him. And by calm, I mean he makes people feel seen, heard, and safe. Even at the loudest party…he’s going to make you his friend (including the brick wall) and he’s going to make it his priority to ensure you have a great time.

He’s quick to own his mistakes, even when they’re not his. He’ll carry the weight of the world on his back if you let him, but please don’t (we play tug-of-war, if you will, for letting me carry some of it with him 😅). He will literally make your problems his problems so you’re not walking in the depths alone.

And to think I’m writing all of this the guy I get to spend the rest of my life with. Phew. I’m not always nice or saying the sweetest things, or making the weight he carries any lighter. I’m just grateful that he knows my heart and knows that I know his, to our cores.

Year 6🤍

The protection wrapped around those 2 in the photo captures everything we’d need in our lives. One another.

Sometimes we miss and sometimes we hit it out of the park. Some days we give it our all and others we share the weight. We joke, we fight (okay…I fight), we (meaning you) push buttons, AND we always show up for the other. Sometimes with an eye roll or clenched jaw, but we always show up. Not because we have to, because we want to.

Grateful to share it all with @dirthethan 😘 Through all the coffees I buy and the golf games you play, we’re doing this damn thing and pretty well I might add. I love you with my whole heart and every “are you serious?” moment 🤣🫶

I would say that it’s pretty rare for friendships to last decades. Not impossible, just rare.

Especially as life gets more hectic. College, careers, distance, marriage, divorce, babies, deaths, vacations, growth, regression…on and on. Life just doing its thing with no regard to its surroundings🤣

Friendship takes work. It takes understanding. Sometimes it takes space and hard truths. It has to allow people to grow and change. Take different paths. An understanding that phases of friendship will look different for different seasons.

Friendship demands hard work. Loyalty. Commitment. Forgiveness. Love. It never asks you to compromise yourself. To meet unrealistic expectations. Just to show up. To check in or send a loving thought. To cheer them on even when they don’t know it. To know that when you need someone or feel alone, your friendships have your back. And you better reach out to them because they’d really hate to have to smack you before hugging you through it 😏

I have known the rare gift of friendship since 3rd grade. This group…we’ve witnessed every awkward phase. Every mistake. Every win. Every low that we had to drag the other out of. Every time we’ve had to check the other.

We’ve played FBI into their dates entire life. We’ve allowed the other to stroll down a path we weren’t going on knowing we’d meet them at their crossroads with open arms and fuller hearts. We may or may not have made threats to every person who could hurt them👊

Their families have become our families. We attend holiday gatherings, birthday parties, vacations, funerals, and life events. Their siblings call us for advice. Their spouses answer all of our phone calls and handle our sleepover requests seamlessly. We’re the non-biological Aunties to their kids.

We wiped each other’s tears more times than we care to count. We’ve cheered the loudest for every success. We’ve attended every life event, in person or spirit because again that life thing sometimes🙃We’ve stayed in each other’s corners NO. MATTER. WHAT.

Friendship is a rare gift that life offers us. One we get to choose to take or leave. Many times over.

To say I’m surprised these ladies walked in my bedroom at 12:45AM would be an understatement
