Meet me in San Pedro! 📕

This Sunday my pink sparkle Chucks and I are heading to the San Pedro Regional Library for Coffee, Tea & Local Ink. It's a free afternoon with 15+ local authors, hosted by the Friends of the San Pedro Library. Swipe to see who's coming!

📗 Authors' Bingo (I might be one of the fun facts)
📘 I'll read a little from Song of Hummingbird Highway
📙 Sparkle bottles, coffee, tea and good company

Song of Hummingbird Highway is a magical realism novel of music, sacrifice, and self-discovery. Every scene opens with a song, and the story travels from Los Angeles to Belize.

Sunday, Oct 11, 2–4 PM
San Pedro Regional Library, 931 S Gaffey St

Bring a friend who loves a good story. I'll be the one with the sneakers on my shoulder.📚

From Belize to Frankfurt.

A novel I wrote between 5 and 7 a.m., before my day job, is crossing the Atlantic this week.

Song of Hummingbird Highway will be on display at the Frankfurt Book Fair, October 7–11, with the @ibpalovesindies Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA). Special thank you to @TerryNathan for supporting the book. @frankfurterbuchmesse Frankfurt is the biggest book fair in the world, where publishers, agents, and translators look for stories to carry into new countries and new languages.

And this hummingbird already speaks a new language. The Portuguese translation is complete and available, beautifully translated by best-selling Brazilian author @heloisa.prieto with @priscilapnemeth and @victorhserra I'm so grateful to this team for carrying Terri's story into Portuguese with such care. Now we're looking for the right partner to bring it to readers in Brazil and beyond.

Publishers, agents, and scouts at the fair: I'd love to connect through my publisher @koehlerbookspub My DMs are open. 💌

My pink sparkle Chucks are staying home this time 👟✨, but the book they've carried to every event is getting its passport stamped.

Cheering from home? Grab your copy on Amazon! Song of Hummingbird Highway: a magical realism novel of music, sacrifice and self-discovery
or leave a review. Every one helps this book travel farther.

Special reveal: Song inspired by the book "I Thought" featuring @meshasteele drops October 23rd!!!

Pink sparkle Chuck Taylors, ocean air, and readers who stopped to talk story.

Thank you, Oceanside, for such a beautiful day.

Every conversation at the table reminded me why I wrote Song of Hummingbird Highway — a story that travels from the Midwest, Los Angeles and Belize through music, culture, spirit and self-discovery.

And a special thank you to everyone who stopped by to make a sparkle bottle. Loved the poetry of @ancestral_teachings_institute. I can’t wait to see your next Aztec dancing performance!

Books were shared. Stories were exchanged. New people became part of the journey.

And yes… the Oceanside sparkle shoes are still dancing. So many great authors!

Missed us? Search Song of Hummingbird Highway on Amazon.

These are the faces behind our “why.” 💙

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our Zoomathon, shared our mission, donated, and showed up in support of Belizean students.

Meet just a few of the beautiful students of Eden SDA Primary School—the children at the heart of what we’re working to build.

Our vision is to create a dedicated Literacy, STEAM & Sensory Center where students can read, discover, create, learn and have access to resources designed to support different ways of learning.

And while the Zoomathon may be over, the project is not.

This is an ongoing building initiative, and there is still an opportunity to be part of what comes next. Every contribution brings us closer to creating a space these students can call their own.

The event was one night. The mission continues.

Help us build for their future. 🇧🇿
Donations are still open — visit the link in our bio to give.

Meet Opal: a Belizean born change maker.

A stranger once congratulations her: Belize's team had just won the World Robotics Competition in Geneva. In that moment she saw it. Belize's greatest assets are its young thinkers.

She asked herself what can I do?

There’s something special about being in a space filled with people who believe stories are worth telling.

I’m looking forward to connecting with fellow writers, meeting new readers, and sharing a little piece of Song of Hummingbird Highway along the way.

If you’ll be at Write On Oceanside on Saturday. Sept 26, from 10am to 2pm, come say hello, find my table, and let’s talk books, life, and the stories that stay with us. ✨
