𝘋𝘳𝘢𝘧𝘵 | pt1

𝘋𝘳𝘢𝘧𝘵 was made over 2-3 weeks on-site at @thevault_gallery in November. It’s a diagram, a room in a room in another room.

Thinking of: in/out, backstage/spotlight, backdrop/subject.

Materials: Wood, paint, graphite on paper, silicone, corn starch. (The patches are imprints of the walls across from them) by @kmovii

I’m so excited to be part of the group exhibition ‘Contemplating Change’ at @openspacevic, curated by @teresasvc and in the company of artists I admire!

My work in the show is called “Rehearsal” and is a big photographic print that plays off the site + some physical interventions in the gallery space.

Please join us at the opening reception:
🐥 July 11, 5-8 pm

And check out the work of Alison Shields (@alisonleashields), Farheen Haq (@farheenhaqart), Gerry Ambers, Lajah Warren (@artwork_by_lajah), Paolino Caputo (@love.magnolienne), and Shawna Kiesman (@shawnakiesman) by @kmovii

𝘥𝘳𝘢𝘧𝘵 is an installation by @kmovii exploring the ins and outs of its site, tracing and redrawing new drafts. As backstage steps into the spotlight, the gallery and installation negotiate their roles.

🌀Last week to see the exhibition ‘Contemplating Change’ at @openspacevic - closing Sep 6

In conversation with the show’s curator (@teresasvc) and in response to the exhibition space, I made this work called “Rehearsal”. I used the gallery’s window as a reference, and played with it in layers of collage, peeling, rephotographing and reprinting. Additionally, there’s some small interventions on the gallery walls that expand this play outside of the photograph.

The title Rehearsal sets the stage for the provisional nature of the installation—caught in a state of becoming, absent of clear function or resolution.
