An unforgettable trip to China. 🇨🇳🥇🥇

Winning two gold medals was amazing, but the moment that will stay with me happened at the 55-year banquet for the Zhejiang Wushu Team. We watched members of the National team perform their three-section staff, and my Shifu (who coached that team in the past) turned to me and, with complete seriousness, said, "You're better."

Whether or not I ever fully believe that, hearing it from the person who's challenged and believed in me meant more than any medal could.

Grateful for this journey and excited for what's next.

This year (and every year since 2020 for that matter) has been extremely rough for me in so many ways. Travel and my hobbies being the only things to keep me grounded... but in the past 2 months... pretty much everything in my life has changed for the better all at once so it with a last-minute trip to Thailand which has been healing for me in more ways than one. Ready to grab next year by the horns and finally take back my life again~* taken in Khao Sok by @kneepawn

Soul contract initiated~* The only thing I had planned and was looking most forward to on this trip was to get a traditional style tattoo in the old capital of Thailand. 🙏🏼 First of the line is a Gao Yord. Representing the 9 peaks of Mount Meru and the 9 attributes of the Buddha. Needing to be the highest Sak Yant you have. Hence, the placement. by @kneepawn

Not even 2 years ago, I walked into Shifu Hu Jiang Qiang's studio as a stranger. Today, I walk in as family.

This community has given me more than just martial arts or discipline. It's given me belonging, growth, and people who genuinely root for each other. The warmth here is unmatched and the sense of family is priceless.

To my Shifu / Shimu, training partners, and everyone who's shared sweat, laughter, and way too many earfuls of me complaining while we stretch... 😅 thank you for welcoming this newbie with open arms. 非常感谢 🙏 @shaolinwushucenter

醉拳, the Drunken Fist.

It's funny how life comes full circle.

When I was a kid, my dad introduced me to Jackie Chan movies. Out of all of them, Drunken Master was the one that stuck with me. It sparked something that eventually led me to start training in Wushu.

My dad, who I wouldn't say I had the best relationship with, passed away years ago, but moments like this always make me think of him and how I'm just now healing that relationship. Standing in China, performing the very style that inspired this journey, feels like something I wish he could have seen.

This performance is for the kid who fell in love with martial arts because of a movie... and for the dad who unknowingly started it all.

I hope I made you proud.
