⚔️🕯️Graceless Heart🕯️⚔️

🕯️ 6/5 This book is DEFINITELY one of the best of the year (imo) and sent me into such a book slump (IT WAS THAT GOOD)!
🕯️ Graceless Heart is the kind of book I knew was either going to absolutely consume me by binging it nonstop, or put me in a book slump due to trying to savor reading this! And I chose the latter, and it was so worth it omg
🕯️ This book has multiple povs, but we mostly follow our fmc in 15th century Volterra (prime Renaissance Italy) who is a talented sculptress, even though this is still deemed a man’s profession, she fights for her right to have her art be seen and noticed! And noticed it is, when she enters a sculpting contest hosted by a secretive and powerful immortal family. Our fmc, while battling sexism in her craft, also hides a rare and magical talent that she uses in her art, resulting in the immortal family noticing and selecting her as their winner! At this time in Italy magic is forbidden and many magic wielders have been persecuted and burned to the stake by the pope’s decree. The immortal family kidnaps their winner, and our fmc is now dragged to Florence, where an intricate web of politics has been woven and our fmc has a huge target on her back from both sides of the web.
🕯️ I ADOREDDDD our fmc she was such a strong and resilient character to follow, and her sense of kindness never being lost truly pulled at my heartstrings!
🕯️ This is an adult fantasy romance, with a TRUE enemies to lovers arc!🫵🏻 The banter and tension had me SCREAMING ANS SCRATCHING AT THE WALLS! I LOVED IT SM!!! (I need to check out this authors other books because she KNOWS how to balance fantasy and romance so well) AND THE YEARNING- YALL!!! It was a “touch her and die” trope your honor! AND I LIVEDDDDDD FOR IT!!!!
🕯️ The atmospheric writing went hand and hand with the dark magic system created in this book (remember this is sectioned as ADULT, there is some darker stuff in this!)! 15th century Italy was such a perfect setting, Ibañez did her research so well to make sure she achieved the political climate and complexities going on at the time!

⚔️🐉Every Spiral of Fate🐉⚔️

🐉 “Her enemies thought her softness made her weak. But it was the very softness of her heart that drove her to slaughter armies in the defense of those she loved. She knew when to wipe her tears, when to rise to her feet, when to draw boundaries and when to draw blood. Her kindness was not inexhaustible; it was not unconditional.”
🐉 6/5 BUCKLE IN WHILE WE CHIT CHAT! This woven kingdom was a series that was recommended to me by @aminasnotokay (THANK GOD she came across my page when she did because this is one of my all-time favorite book series, and every book in it has been a 6/5), if you don’t follow her already I def recommend doing so!
🐉 When I tell you I inhaled each of these books in less than 48 hours each?! They are so bingeable I do not know what Mrs Mafi puts in them, but I feel like a little kid trying to inhale as much Halloween candy after trick-or-treating before my parents catch onto me being a feral little critter‼️🫵🏻
🐉 WHEN I TELL YOU that this series has some of the BEST yearning and tension that has yet to grace my eyes OMG! The character dynamics have only gotten better throughout each book, especially with the fourth installment! The side characters are just as interesting as our main characters, honorable mention to Hassan for making me constantly bust out laughing 🙂‍↕️
🐉 In Every Spiral of Fate the lore dropping really hits hard! Most of the questions a lot of readers like myself had throughout the last three books were answered in so much depth and backstory, including this world’s magic system! If you didn’t know, the series is inspired by Persian mythology, and includes mythical beings, such as dragons (love them sm)
🐉 I also wanted to include the playlist I made while inhaling this book, as well as a few quotes and updates that I updated on Goodreads (I really didn’t get the chance to update a lot because of how fast I was chugging along through this book, but just now there are a ton more notable quotes and moments besides the ones I included)!
🐉 If none of this has convinced you to pick up this criminally under hyped series, I beg of you to look up the fanart (some of the best fanart EVER)! by @knightlyarchives

⚔️ The Knight and The Moth ⚔️

⚔️ 6/5 GAWD you guys were right this was worth all the hype!
⚔️ Rachel of course wove her beautifully poetic prose throughout, sandwiched between heart-stabbing lore (of course). Did I cry over a gargoyle bc of this book, well yes!!!!
⚔️ Slide three does include some of the quotes I jotted down while eating this up! Needless to say I was very well fed while reading this!
⚔️ And dear lawd CAN RACHEL WRITE A LOVE STORY!!! Both platonic/familial, and romantic. From Sybil’s relationship with Bartholomew (which will be haunting me for awhile), and Rory, Maude, and Benji’s little found family, their growth and struggles together were so well presented! Sybil and Rory’s rivals-to-lovers arc had me KICKING MY FEET GIGGLING!!!! THE BROODING AND YEARNING FROM BOTH OF THEM UHHHH YUPPP THANK YOUUUUUU!!!!! The angst I know that both these characters are gonna have bc of a HELLISH cliffhanger ending is gonna have me SATTTTTTT!
⚔️ Rachel girl idk what you put in these books but I am astonished and absolutely hooked throughout all your books! These characters were so richly written and so easy to cherish in their roles (SYBILLLL IS MYYY GIRLLLLLLL), and I’m on the edge of my seat to crack open book 2!

⚔️ September Hopefuls ⚔️

⚔️ A couple weeks late but nonetheless, here’s my lil stack of hopefuls for this month 🕺🏼
⚔️ I really liked doing tbr prompts last month, so of course I’m doing it again! I am, if nothing else, a creature of habit🙂‍↕️

#septembertbr #tbr

⚔️ August’s Leftovers!

⚔️ A couple books I didn’t get to finish from last months prompts, that will definitely continue to fit the fall vibes :)
⚔️ I’m about 10% of the way through Six of Crows and 75% of the way through Where The Dark Stands Still!

#sixofcrows #wherethedarkstandsstill

⚔️ A Gothic Romantasy:

⚔️ I have been holding myself back so much from snatching this up, BUT I wanted to make sure book 2 was out and in my clutches before I chowed this down!
⚔️ CANNOT wait to put my fomo to rest and eat up Rachel’s writing again!

#theknightandthemoth

⚔️ A haunted town or house trope:

⚔️ One of my favorite horror tropes! And I loved Quinn’s first book so much, this is definitely gonna be a binge-able series I can already tell 🙂‍↕️
⚔️ The haunted town/campground, found family, a grey fmc, folklore running DEEP, and unforgiving horrors/creatures, of course IM SAT!

#howtosurvivecamping

⚔️ Cruel Fae (again!) (bonus if it’s autumnal):

⚔️ The Hedge Witch of Foxhall has been resting on my tbr for too long, the cover art is gorgeous, plus this has welsh inspired folklore all throughout the book (which I’m always a sucker for)!

#thehedgewitchoffoxhall

⚔️ Sapphic September:

⚔️ Another V.E.Schwab book that I have so much fomo from not reading yet!!! This honestly might be pulled into my October hopeful tbr pile as well, because I love to take my time reading Schwab’s lyrical writing
⚔️ BUT THE FANART FOR THIS BOOK, I’m scratching at the walls gimme the toxic lesbian vampire trio NOEW

#buryourbonesinthemidnightsoil

⚔️ A T.Kingfisher book:

⚔️ Queen of fantasy TO ME!!! And especially with a darker set fantasy world(s), Kingfisher RULES writing books with such vivid settings and eerie presence’s! I HAD to fit her into this stack!

#tkingfisher #clockworkboys

⚔️ A cozy fantasy:

⚔️ A new found author to me from this summer, who’s new release fit perfectly with this prompt! by @knightlyarchives

⚔️ August Wrap Up ⚔️

⚔️ A week late but nonetheless, another very bookish month wrapped up 🙂‍↕️
⚔️ Read a total of 36 books (mostly manga), BUT ate up some absolute bangers that I’ll definitely be posting longer reviews about later
⚔️ Also leaned into some summerween vibes last month, with a mix of vampires, haunted woods, and tons paranormal activities 🙂‍↕️Definitely recommend all those highlighted books
⚔️ Honestly, I’m so glad this summer from hell is over! 😭 I cannot wait for the days to cool down, the leaves to change, and for fall whimsy to take over! Plus autumnal reads are just so much better (I DONT MAKE THE RULES)
⚔️ Currently finishing up my September hopefuls list (another post coming soon!) and enjoying the rest of this extra long weekend :) Hope yall are enjoying September so far too 🤍

⚔️A lil PangoBooks Haul⚔️

🌞One of my “buying books rule” this year was to try and lean towards only buying books I’ve already read and loved (which I definitely have not stuck too BUT😭!)
🌞 I finally bought more of T.Kingfisher’s books! MY BELOVED!!!! My top read author of last year (and probably this year too), she creates such vivid and enthralling fantasy worlds and atmospheric horror settings, that I’m ALWAYS SAT for!
🌞 With that being said, I ADOREEEE the special editions of her books and found MY FAVORITE SPECIAL EDITION; Hemlock & Silver (Owlcrate edition)! Mirror Magic is micro-element that I’m a hands down sucker for (blame it on being obsessed with Coraline and fairy portals as a kid) but I’m so glad Owlcrate incorporated the mirror magic aspect into the cover, STUNNING!!!
🌞 As you can see though I’m leaning into collecting more darker fantasy for some mood reading vibes, as summer dies down and fall is more prevalent in the air :)
🌞 AND I also find the original cover of The Deal WITHOUT any “show ads” on it, BLESS UP!

⚔️🌲My August Hopefuls🌲⚔️

🌲A little late, but that’s just due to my crazy schedule!
🌲 For this month I wanted to make a monthly tbr/hopefuls a bit more loose; the book picks all fall under some prompts I posed in my reading journal! So if I really don’t feel up to reading the book I chose for the prompt I can go back to my piles are reselect (hopefully this was appease my mood reader brain lol)
🌲 Before those chosen books though, I wanted to include some manga I’m in the middle of that I wanted to put as a priority to read this month (bc my library manga pile is HUGE, these are just the series’s I’m most excited to get to :))

#augusttbr #augusthopefuls #bookprompt #manga

🌲 A slice of life romance that is SO SWEET; The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity!
🌲 Chosen family shines so bright throughout this series, I LOVE IT SMMMM
🌲 10/10 recommend 🙂‍↕️
#thefragrantflowerbloomswithdignity

🌲One of my summers current obsessions; WHA!!!!!
🌲 MY BELOVEDDDDD!!!! A magical fantasy world with luscious artwork/line work, a group of young girls training to become full fledged witches, a beautiful magic system, corrupt magic lurking in the background, YAOI YEARNING OFF THE CHARTS, needless to say I recommend this ten fold!!! AND I heard the anime does the manga sm justice (I haven’t gotten around to watching it yet personally, I’m holding back until I finish reading the series)!
#witchhatatelier

🌲 Confession time!!!! I have put off reading this series because of the doomed edits that I have witnessed everywhere, yall made me emo without even knowing what’s going on lol
🌲 But one of my library coworkers (who’s also into WHA) kept insisting I’d love this! And they were right, I my doomed fantasy loving ass devoured that first volume in record time!
#frierenbeyondjourneysend

🌲 KNAWING AT THE BARS OF MY ENCLOSURE!!! HISTORICAL DARK ROMANCE!!!! OBSESSED ASSASSIN MMC X KIDNAPPED HIGH LADY!!!!
🌲 This had me cackling at 3 am! SO DO WHAT YOU WILL WITH THAT!
🌲 This series last volume was just published this summer too, so I’m blocking spoilers left and right!
#fireflywedding

🌲 One of my other library coworkers recommended me this series, we both have by @knightlyarchives

⚔️🌲Book Haul🌲⚔️

⚔️ After a hellish month and finishing 56 books in July (my highest reading wrap up yet 🕺🏼), a trip to an indie book store was DEFINITELY deserved!
⚔️ Lights Out was such a fun popcorn read for me last year I HAD to finally grab a physical copy!
⚔️ I’ve heard so many good things about the Lady of Darkness series, so lemme know if you guys have read it yet :)))
⚔️ I feel like most of my mutuals have read In the Veins of the Drowning and I’m feeling fomo lol! Definitely can’t wait to see if it’s worthy all the hype 🙂‍↕️
⚔️ A Fellowship of Bakers and Magic not only had a cute cozy fantasy premise BUT it also had fanart (which I’m a such for always)
⚔️Lastly, I snatched up Galatea bc it was discounted and also because she was the only one missing from my Madeline Miller collection (my beloved)
⚔️ Hope y’all had a great weekend and start to the month!!! Xoxo Knightly 🤍 by @knightlyarchives

⚔️ Knightly Catch Up ⚔️

⚔️ It’s been a minute!!! But hello hello hello, I’m back again after a much needed mental health break!
⚔️ Thought I’d make a lil catch up post explaining a little bit about what’s happened since I’ve been gone :)
⚔️ AND! That I’ve fallen back in love with reading again, and will definitely be keeping it lowkey posting my usual reviews soon (I CANNOT WAIT TO TALK WITH YALL ABOUT WHAT IVE BEEN READING/HAVE READ)
⚔️ With review posts going forward, part of what burnt me out and sent me into a slump was thinking I HAD to add a detailed review for every book read. So I’m trying to reel it in more, I mean…I’m not getting graded on how/what I review these books so I shouldn’t put extra expectations on myself lol!
⚔️ Lastly, this week marked one year of me making this account, so I thought it’d be an even better time pull myself for my hiatus and come back to post, read, and nerd out with you all again :)))
⚔️ Much love to those who reached out to check in on my too, xoxo Knightly 🤍 by @knightlyarchives
