Buckle Up, Buttercup! We’re doing a yarn haul!! 🤩💕

This video started as a WIP Wednesday but is now basically a mini podcast! Which may be a sign that I need to go back to long form content, because apparently I am too verbose for IG. 😅

Anyway, I promised you all a yarn haul from my Copenhagen trip, and so you shall have it. This is a long one but here’s everything I’ve been up to and everything I bought in Denmark (minus the buttons) this month.

Come With Me to Wash My Knits! 🧶🫧

Travel Prep for me includes planning my knitwear and making sure they are fresh and clean. Follow along with my process for caring for my knits.

I was excited to test out new wool wash from @madebyhaileybailey that I picked up at Flock ‘26 and a Gleener on The Go from @shopyarnia! Both are game changers! Especially the Gleener (did you see that fuzz ball?! 👀🤯). I depilled my #CampusCardigan in @reddoorfs Natural DK. This non superwash garment is super soft but I have depilled since making it almost a year ago and it shows. Most of the pills were in high friction areas like under the arms. I was super impressed with the results as it looks as good as new.

Most of my knits needed a good soak after a high use summer. Some have a few stains that you can see me gently scrubbing. I typically let the knits soak for about 20minutes at a time (or whenever I remember the tub is in the sink 😅). Then drain and squeeze out the excess water by hand and with a towel before laying flat to dry. I washed in two batches as I expected a bit of color in the water and didn’t have color catchers on hand.

I let the garments dry for about 24 hours. As you can see, I don’t have blocking mats at the moment. But that doesn’t need to hold you back. I used a poster board and car sun shields to protect the bedding and have a decent surface area for all the knits. It worked like a charm and I came back to clean and beautifully scented knits. Shout out to my official Blocking Inspector for double checking my work 🐶🤭. Stay tuned to see some of these knits and more on my trip to Copenhagen with Rachel is Knitting!

Things I’m Working on Thursday! À la Sara at @littledynamiteknits

I seem to perpetually forget or miss WIP Wednesday but I still wanna catch up with my friends!

Basically, I’ve just had Copenhagen on the brain! What I’m making to wear there (Sollas Cardigan by @the.creabea), what I’m shopping for (KFO by the boatload and new to me Euro yarns), and also what I’ll be making while I’m there (potentially Sophie Scarf, Moonset Polo, Avenue Tank, or Step By Step Cardigan). Lots of decisions to make! Please help a girl out!

What’s your favorite travel project? Also, what have you been working on? I may just add it to my Copenhagen shopping list! 😅🤭

Charismatic on Merino and Alpaca by @kaosyarn

WIP Wednesday Spinning Edition 💕

I’ve had the spinning bug lately (or maybe I’m just procrastinating my knitting 😅🤭). I’m working on this beautiful 100% NSW Shaniko Wool in the color Crow’s Feet from my friend Sam @clockworkfiber_co! I purchased this in October at @awoolenaffair before I even had a spinning wheel but I knew I couldn’t leave it behind. This tonal navy speaks to me. And I’ve been dying to work with Sam’s fiber since seeing all her fun batts and braids at Nash Yarn Fest.

Also pictured is fiber I plied up over the weekend. The Pavlova colorway from @littlefiberco that I picked up at Flock ‘25. I only had one braid but I’m loving this cute little skein even though it still needs to be washed and set.

I feel like I’m improving with every spin and that is very exciting as a baby spinner. And I’m definitely seeing the benefit in all the gizmos and gadgets that accompany the craft. I’m looking forward to learning more and getting better as I go along. Thanks to all my crafty friends for the tips, tricks, and encouragement!

No idea what I will do with these skeins once they’re finished. But seeing the pics together, maybe it’d be a cute Pressed Flowers? What did you do, if anything, with your first few hand spun skeins? by @knitsbynayla

✨Avenue Tank✨

The #AvenueTank by @toriknitsnyc is finally here!! I had the privilege of test knitting this pattern for Tori and I love it! I knit mine up in @kelbournewoolens Mojave in Coral as this was one of the recommended yarns and I had some in stash from a sale at @shopyarnia last year. I absolutely loved working up this yarn (and you didn’t ask but I’ve already purchased 3 more colors! 🤭 future Avenue Tees and Tanks incoming!). Full details on my Ravelry project page, but I like the simple but well thought out details of this design. Tori’s patterns are clear and well written and the end result speaks for itself. Catch me wearing this tank all summer and into the fall! Be sure to check out this pattern as well as the rest of Tori’s catalog! She’s actual hosting a Tees and Tanks MAL on her discord and we’re having a blast!

Happy Release Day @toriknitsnyc and Happy Knitting to the rest of us! ✨💕 by @knitsbynayla

Adventure Time! ☀️🐑

Thanks to @nj_fibershed for hosting the NJ Barn Crawl. Some friends from Craft Circle and I got to visit 3 farms this weekend: Middle Brooke Fiberworks, Forest Bluff Farms, and Jenny Jump Farm. Shout out to the girls @knitandgrace @amyroseknitting @sophiamademe for being down for an adventure.

It was such a beautiful day and we had a great time meeting farmers and their flocks, feeling the sunshine and lots of wool, seeing the beautiful Jersey landscape, and of course purchasing a few things. We also learned a lot about raising sheep and goats, the shearing and milling process, and got to speak with so many people who just have a passion for fiber and animals. And what girls day out is complete without stopping for delicious lunch and ice cream in a cute downtown with a few of the water. I came home with local honey, locally milled yarn, local fiber and lots of new memories of course.

10/10 would recommend. by @knitsbynayla

💫WIP Wednesday! (But On A Friday!)💫

Took a moment today to catch up on what I’ve been working on. I skipped 2 days of Me Made May because I just wasn’t feeling it. But I’m back! And oh so cozy in my #HannahCardigan by @noelle.knits made in @woolyknit merino cone and a mohair.

This week I’ve finished up my modified Sutton Shawl by @toriknitsnyc. And it’s definitely a Tori filled week as I also started my #AvenueTank test knit using @kelbournewoolens Mojave. I’m also looking forward to joining Tori’s MAL (head to her page for deets) and casting on the #ProspectTee soon. I also want to make a new pair of socks and another summer garment, possibly the #FreshwaterTank by @jessssiemae.

Let it WIP!

Happy WIP Wednesday Friends! Here’s a speedy check in on projects (and yes that’s plural this time) as I’m on my way out to knit night!

I’ve had a bit of a rough week so far as my body wants to attack me (hello congestion). But I’m on the mend and moving forward. Excited for knit night tonight, NY Liberty home opener Friday, craft circle in the city on Saturday, and of course Mothers Day Sunday. Me and my WIPs are along for the ride?

How’s your week going? Are you looking forward to anything this weekend?
