Had far too much fun in beautiful @ardn_pau. Looking like I’d been scrunched up in someone’s back pocket from too many late nights finishing the new book, but no one said anything. I’ll edit this with more thoughts later but thanks to all the writers, all the readers, all the translators (Manon, Anne-Marie, Mike, you killed it) — to my fantastic French publisher @editionsdumasque, and always to my friend @caubetlucie. And of course thanks to @radiomukhers for his uncharacteristic kindness throughout the weekend. He and SA Cosby were talking about the wings of their homes given over to writing trophies, and when I seemed a little quiet on the subject, he awarded me the Grand Prix Du Mukherjee, 2025. If anyone needs something to wipe their arse with… Much love x by @knobbth

Ripley meets Reacher in IMPOSTER SYNDROME by Joseph Knox, a breakneck thriller about a con artist who is mistaken for a missing man and gets drawn into the orbit of a mysterious and lavishly rich London family with more than one deadly secret…

Available now in the United States!

A must-read for fans of:
✅ Action-packed stories
✅ Con-artist thrillers
✅ Rich people behaving badly
✅ Morally ambiguous heroes

On the run from his shady past, Lynch has just arrived in London, still looking over his shoulder to make sure he isn’t being followed. His phone is dead, he has no money, no contacts, no one at all. Until he runs into a young woman named Bobbie who mistakes him for her brother, Heydon Pierce, who disappeared five years ago without a trace.

At Bobbie’s suggestion, Lynch goes to the Pierce family home, posing as Heydon to try and con some money out of them. But far from tricking them, his subterfuge is instantly discovered. He strikes the devil’s bargain with them – their silence for his cooperation in finding out what really happened to Heydon.

But Lynch’s investigation goes too deep and uncovers the fact that Heydon Pierce was tangled up with some dangerous and powerful people in London. Everyone has their own motives to keep Heydon well buried in the past. In such a conspiracy of mirrors, there’s only one thing Lynch know for certain: the only person he can trust is himself.

Imposter Syndrome - out today in the US!

A con artist who's lost all confidence. An heiress who mistakes him for her missing brother. And a dark conspiracy that only an imposter can untangle. None of us are who we say are...

Huge love and thanks to all at my 🇺🇸 publisher, @sourcebooks.

And my embrassing, nervous love to ALL of Japan for my first writing award.

If I owe you a message or reply I apologise. Deep in writing jail working on my new novel - 'L.Y.D.’ - but soon to emerge like a butterfly from the chrysalis.

I really hope you're heading into the holidays surrounded by people you love. If not and you find yourself harbouring violent revenge fantasies against society - oh boy have we got the book for you…

Take care x by @knobbth

Ten days from now, we’re publishing Imposter Syndrome, my 5th novel (swipe for tour dates!)

It starts in London on the day the queen dies, 8th September, 2022, and covers five days in the life of Lynch, a broke con artist at a cross roads.

There’s the face tattoo applied against his will, the rehab-bound heiress with a sob story. There’s her missing brother, who Lynch happens to resemble, and the weird circumstances of his disappearance. Theres another sister, a struggling actor, and her mother, a successful one. There’s the domineering city boy dad and the shadowy intelligence firm he keeps on retainer.

Identity theft, a dark cover up, a twisted private collection. Whitney Houston’s belly button piercing and the clothes that Princess Diana died in. Sleazy crypto bros, spooked up ‘fixers’, a fitness influencer called Gym Morrison. And a masked, mouth breathing psychopath, stalking them all…

Then there’s Lynch, a working class con artist moving through the clubs, homes and penthouses of the super rich, pretending to be someone he’s not. Trying to be someone better.

Its my crazy version of a private eye novel, and my favourite thing I’ve done. I think it’s funny, but maybe you had to be there… by @knobbth

Yesterday I was handed the first finished copy of Imposter Syndrome, hot off the press.

A con artist discovers that he looks like the missing son from a wealthy family — but what about the weird circumstances of his disappearance?
