May is Brain Cancer Awareness month. Pediatric brain cancer is considered the deadliest pediatric cancer, responsible for approximately ⅓ of pediatric cancer deaths. Funding for pediatric cancer in general is grossly underfunded getting less than 4% of the cancer research budget with brain cancer research getting a fraction of that. Theo specifically had AT/RT which is one of the top 4 aggressive and rare pediatric brain cancers. Thankfully, his had a treatment plan we could try, but not all of them do. Research for AT/RT in the past 5 years alone improved his prognosis. For any family that cancer has touched, it’s indescribable. We count time “before Theo’s tumor” and “after Theo’s tumor” - my older boys had their childhood innocence stolen from them and worry whenever they hear someone in the family is getting bloodwork, what that could mean. We have been blessed and are so thankful for private organizations that have stepped up to help families like ours and raise money to fund research privately. Specifically local organizations to us like @graciesarmyfoundation @cabaret4acure @livlikeaunicornfoundation and @ironmattlarson Without research, there is no hope for treatment or a cure. This is the week of quilt tops. First finish, a top made from bear paw blocks everyone sent when Theo was receiving treatment! I have enough for 2 of these this week, looking forward to getting these completed 💗 by @knotted_thread

This WIP may be one of my oldest to date. Hello Petal (the fabric line) was released in 2014… I had made a few of the blocks, cut the rest, and let it sit. A WIP no more! Finished and bound this week, even used the leftover minky from a WIP last week to complete it. No waste here! 😆 happy to have this one off my list and another bin empty! Pleasantly surprised to discover I was further along with section 5 than I thought! I’ve been bouncing between my Tumbling Cosmos, #jennsupernova and #jennlapassacaglia EPP quilts. Maybe one day I’ll get them all done… hoping to finish piecing this one this year 🤞🏻🤞🏻 by @knotted_thread

Another WIP added to the completed pile! This little quilt top has been sitting completed, and quilted, just waiting for binding! 🙄 This week I used my 15 minutes of sewing to attach binding and finish it up. I’m pretty sure I made this using 2 charm packs I had of various dots fabrics. It’s sweet and cheerful - will likely end up at the children’s oncology center next time I take Theo for bloodwork 🩷🩶 Onto the next! by @knotted_thread

A finish, finally! It’s been a while since I had a finished quilt to show. I hit a bit of a quilting slump post summer and I’m trying to keep myself motivated, and work on some of the MANY works in progress I have by doing 15ish minutes of sewing a day. This is the #maggiepearlquilt pattern I used a liberty fqb from @rileyblakedesigns I had and the minky is extra cozy because it’s “hairy” - I have no idea why I had this but it’s fun! Attempting to prep my next few weeks of “15 minutes” of sewing so when I’m ready I can just sew. Anyone else prep a bunch of different things so you have a few to work on? Idea totally stolen from @stitchedbyalexis (I wish I could do it like she does for a weekend though and on a larger scale!) 😍 by @knotted_thread

15 minutes add up! This WIP was my focus last week. 15 minutes everyday was my goal. Sometimes this extended into a little longer, but it all worked toward completing this #maggiepearlquilt Excited to have this top down and hoping to get it quilted asap! Onto the next WIP by @knotted_thread

Realizing if I don’t start assembling some of these smaller sections as I go, I’m going to have QUITE the headache later on… And yes, a cookie sheet is the only way I can transport and keep it together to not confuse myself 🤣 #jennsupernova by @knotted_thread
