Argentina gave me a lot to think about.

Not simply about football atmospheres, noise or spectacle, but about participation. About what happens when thousands of people surrender openly to collective feeling without embarrassment.

Across Buenos Aires, I kept noticing how emotionally visible everything felt. Joy, frustration, anxiety, belief, rage, hope. Not hidden. Not softened. Not curated for content. Experienced publicly and in real time.

This piece became less about football itself and more about what modern public life increasingly struggles to make space for: collective emotional release, belonging and visible participation.

“The Permission to Feel” is now live on Known Fixture.

Visibility is not neutral inside elite men’s football ⚽️

In January, a proposal on a Bundesliga pitch was framed as proof of progress. The applause was real. The symbolism was clean.

I was more interested in what sits underneath it — why this moment was possible, who it was possible for, and what happens once visibility leaves the stadium and enters the attention economy.

This piece isn’t about questioning sincerity. It’s about interrogating infrastructure — hierarchy, media economics, and the risk architecture shaping elite men’s football.

This is part of my ongoing writing through Known Fixture – examining the intersection of football, culture and power.

Some fun news to begin 2026 ⚽️⚡️

I’m truly honoured to have been selected as one of 30 leaders on @sportindustry’s NextGen 2026 cohort.

It means a lot to be recognised for my leadership in sport, and to be joining such a diverse group of talent working across so many different corners of the industry. The ambition, energy, and quality in this cohort is clear, and I’m really excited to learn alongside them.

NextGen is a year-long leadership programme bringing together emerging leaders for training, workshops, and shared learning with some of the sharpest minds in sport and business. It’s competitive, generous, and rooted in real development. I can’t wait to deep dive in.

My work sits at the intersection of football, culture, community, and creative practice. I’m excited to bring that perspective into the room, to share openly, and to be stretched by others doing brilliant things in very different contexts.

Grateful to be here. Looking forward to what’s ahead. Let’s go.

We are thrilled to finally share that GOAL DIFFERENCE has been awarded a Small Grant from @prideinstem! ⚽️🌈💫

Goal Difference is a pilot project using football data science 📊 and creative arts 🎨 to tackle the invisibility of queer players in grassroots football – and prototype practical tools for representation and advocacy.

In elite football, STEM is everywhere: GPS trackers, heart-rate analytics, injury prevention data, goal-line technology. But this infrastructure rarely reaches grassroots queer football – especially for trans, QTPOC, disabled and working-class players – leaving no evidence base to support funding bids, improve training, or challenge exclusionary policies. 🏳️‍⚧️🤝

This project changes that. In collaboration with one London-based and one South East university and club, we’re working on pitch and hands on with players to collect, interpret and reimagine data. The aim is to make data advocacy accessible, playful and action-driven – centring lived experience while shaping a fairer future for the game.

So proud to be leading the project through @lifesapitchprojects, with @lil_driscoll as Creative Development Associate, and huge thanks to Pride in STEM for their trust and support. Congratulations to the other incredible grantees whose work is building care, community and visibility across the UK’s queer STEM landscape. 🧠

I’ll also be speaking at Pride in STEM’s Day of LGBTQ+ People in STEM at @zsllondonzoo, on 18 November – an evening celebrating intersection, innovation and change. Tickets are free and in my bio.

⚽️ My first ever football journalism commission is here! I’m thrilled to share my debut piece for @shekicksmag, ‘Filed Under: Devotion’. 🎨📝

The article explores memory, fandom and women’s football through the things we keep - stickers, badges, programmes, photos - and how fans have always been the true archivists of the game. This piece is special to me, not just as a writer but as a fan. It celebrates the quieter forms of devotion that sustain women’s football, and the ways that collections - both official and unofficial - tell the story of our game.

I’m hugely thankful to everyone who shared their stories and objects, and to the @nationalfootballmuseum for their support and insight. And of course, thank you to the She Kicks team for giving me this opportunity - it means a lot!.

I’m going on stage for the first time in nine years!! I am thrilled to have been seed commissioned by @the_lowry to develop a brand new piece exploring football, climate, masculinity and hope - as part of Scratch Nights X Climate Hope Event, curated by @sophykingart + John-Paul Brown 🎨

🧤⚽️🌿
The Keeper:

Under stadium lights that exist only in memory, a lone goalkeeper faces a match between Hope United and Despair F.C. Every choice – to save, to concede – could change the game. In this match, the crisis is both global and personal: climate on the brink, masculinity under pressure, a mind at full stretch. Blending football’s drama with poetic storytelling, The Keeper is about what we guard, what we release, and the courage to keep playing when you can’t save everything.

Created and Produced by @lifesapitchprojects
Creative Development Associate: @lil_driscoll

The night will also feature three other scratch performances from brilliant artists. Come watch, support!
