Embracing the Chaos Archetype

Are you feeling like everything we once relied on is falling apart? Goodwill, generosity, and ethical conduct can seem like naive weaknesses in the world we’re living in right now. That’s the chaos archetype at play.

Just like in Greek mythology, where the primordial gods emerged from the womb of Chaos, we, too, are in the process of recreating ourselves and rebirthing our gods. The old ones are dying.

For so long, we outsourced our power—worshipping at the altars of economic growth, political leadership, and technological progress, believing they would lead us somewhere better. But now, the illusion is broken. The more technology advances, the poorer the majority become. The more we look to politicians for change, the more powerless they reveal themselves to be. Even morality itself feels unstable—one minute, someone like Donald Trump or Elon Musk is a villain, the next, a hero. Nothing is as it seems. Many of us can no longer find anything external that is consistent enough to project our sense of good and bad onto.

Yes, it’s uncomfortable, but this chaos is the birthplace of a new set of gods—or in modern terms, values. The chaos archetype is the catalyst of reformation. The word reformation comes from the Latin reformare, meaning to form again or reshape. It’s the process of returning to a more authentic state, of reassembling what’s been broken and reshaping it into something more fit for purpose. Embracing The Apocalypse Archetype
To Navigate the Storms of Our Time

Right now, we are in an apocalypse. Some of us are experiencing it as the end of the world, while others see the crumbling as the beginning of something new. Some of us see both sides, too.
The word apocalypse may seem scary, but it comes from the Greek apokalypsis (meaning “unveiling” or “revelation”). It’s not specifically about destruction, though that can sometimes happen as a by-product. It’s about unveiling or revealing something that’s been hidden. Just knowing this when you hear the word might change how it impacts you. When words, logic, and reason fail, working with symbols can help. For example, Jung recommended that his clients draw mandalas to explore the state of their subconscious. It can be an amazing exercise. This is the mandala that emerged from my unconscious: an eye within the sun, surrounded by the spiraling circle of the cosmos. An eye in the storm of creation, so to speak—a link between the individual and the divine, the micro and the macro. A reminder that no matter how turbulent the world feels outside, there’s always a counterpoint of balance, the non-judgmental observer within. There’s so much more as well; the depth of meaning is literally bottomless. If you try this wonderful exercise, feel free to send me a picture of your mandala, and we can interpret it together. You never know what truths may emerge through it. #archetypes #archetypal #mandala #jung #apocalypse by @knowthyself81

“The Alchemy of Self: A Visual Journey Through Individuation”

This piece embodies the four alchemical stages of Individuation AKA Self-Development.

Nigredo (Blackening): The left side’s dark washes of black and gray evoke the dissolution of the old self, the necessary descent into shadow and introspection.
Albedo (Whitening): The stark white spaces emerge as clarity, purification, and the first glimpse of inner light after darkness.
Citrinitas (Yellowing): The golden hues represent awakening, wisdom, finding our inner guide (moral compass) and the merging of opposites—where transformation becomes conscious.
Rubedo (Reddening): The vibrant reds and structured grid symbolize integration, embodiment, and wholeness—the final realization of the self in the material world.
Dripping lines, fragmented grids, and organic blends of color express the fluid yet structured nature of personal evolution. Each layer dissolves and reconstructs, much like the alchemical process itself.

There’s something organic about the way pigment flows in this piece—like nature reclaiming structure. The rigid lines hint at architecture, but the color seeps through, dissolving boundaries, softening edges. Deep greens and blues pool and bleed, echoing moss creeping over stone, water finding its way through cracks.

It feels like a moment of transformation, a balance between decay and rebirth. The contrast between the structured grid and the fluid, organic washes suggests tension—control and surrender, permanence and impermanence.

Sometimes trying to articulate our emotions only hinders their journey through us. Art creates no such barriers.

This piece was a breakthrough for me. The interplay of ma—empty space—and colorful activity mirrors the dance between surrender and control, action and acceptance, trying and letting go.

Let your creativity be free.

Art speaks what words can’t. In moments of despair—like now, when the world feels like it’s falling apart and there are no words—creativity becomes a refuge. A space where emotions flow freely, without judgment or debate.

This painting, with its fractured lines and bleeding colors, reflects the rawness of my struggles, yet also the beauty in surrender. Like watercolor on paper, pain seeps into life—but in expressing it, we transform it into something meaningful.

Art reminds me that possibility is always present. May your creativity be free. MAKE YOUR ART. #wabisabiart #fengshuiart #abstractart #tao #wuwei #healingthroughart #perfectlyimperfect by @knowthyself81

Creating art isn’t an exam, and its value isn’t measured by likes on social media or even money.

It’s as natural and nourishing for your wellbeing as going for a walk, eating well, or getting good sleep.

The fear of creating art is just the echo of a schoolchild’s fear of being tested and not making the grade.

Your creativity doesn’t need anyone’s approval to be free—not even your own. Make something you don’t like, and you might find that someone else does. And the moment they do, your perception of it shifts.

Art isn’t always just for you. It’s a transmission from our collective soul, that speaks to each of us in different ways at different times. It’s open to our wildest interpretations, intertwining with our experiences, weaving a tapestry of meaning that transcends mere words. #wabisabiart #fengshuiart #abstractart #tao #wuwei #healingthroughart #perfectlyimperfect by @knowthyself81

Fear is like a faithful barking dog that guards your soul from your ego,
That will never do anything without getting something in return.
It forgets that you’ve already received an unpayable debt—
You’re alive. This will always be more than enough, So make your art without expectations. MAKE YOUR ART. #wabisabiart #fengshuiart #abstractart #tao #wuwei #healingthroughart #perfectlyimperfect by @knowthyself81

You don’t realise what a coward you’ve been until you finally dare to live your dream. Then the bars of your cage become painfully clear. You comfort zone is a prison of fear. Do you expect a round of applause for eating your lunch? 🥗
Do you require a standing ovation for taking a dump? 🚽
Making your art is just as natural—so why the double standard?
Imagine needing a critic’s approval to take a 💩 —absurd, isn’t it? MAKE YOUR ART #wabisabiart #fengshuiart #abstractart #tao #wuwei #healingthroughart #perfectlyimperfect by @knowthyself81
