Clos d’Opleeuw 2022. After hearing so many stories about this Belgian gem, we spotted it on the winelist of @restauranthemelenaarde and couldn’t resist to order a bottle of this Belgian Chardonnay, crafted in a tiny 1-hectare walled vineyard, just 30 minutes from Maastricht. With only around 2,000 bottles made each year, the dedication to this project shows. At first, the wine was a little shy, but as it opened up, it revealed layers of subtle oak, ripe citrus, and delicate almond. Very Burgundian styled elegance. Maybe a bit ripe for my taste, could use a bit more freshness but a very interesting first touchpoint with this wine. Very curious to see how this will age! taken in Hemel & Aarde by @koenopperman

Château Rayas - Rayas 2013. Drank in early summer 2025. A pristine bottle @royalchampagne. The split second the cork is pulled this signature expression of forest fruits and southern France wild herbs appear. What follows is a 24+ hr ballade between us and the unfolding story of Rayas. For me this is an ethereal wine. Fyi: Between drinking this bottle and this post i’ve been deep diving into @laure.gasparotto recent bible of Rayas, the last picture shows a beautiful quote on my so called ‘ southern france wild herbs’. You know who you are but again very grateful to taste this wine, let alone to follow and drink the full bottle with a group of 3 for 24+ hrs. #rayas taken in Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa by @koenopperman

Domaine Gangloff - Saint Joseph 2019. Even though i don’t taste and drink these wines enough (who does?) This domaine is a long time favorite ever since the first time i tasted it back in 2020. This Saint-Joseph showed everything i want in an Northern-Rhône Syrah. Powerful but refined. Complimentary wild herbs and spices. Picked at perfect ripeness, with a dense tannin structure but no overripe-jammy vibes. Hence the sleeve i poured it blind, some recognized it straight away whilst others struggled a bit longer, it’s all in the game! #gangloff by @koenopperman

Domaine d’Auvenay Puligny Montrachet les Enseignères 2012. My first dance with d’Auvenay. This bottle rocked from the second the cork was pulled. From what i have been told, the signature reduction with roasted white sesame and white flowers. The palate provided beautiful ripe acidic noted and hints of confit lemon zest. Nothing short of greatness. Only 225 bottles made for this vintage, what are the chances of tasting it, even af 10+ years? How i came in the position to taste, drink and enjoy these legendary wines in my early thirties i’m still not sure, but i’m forever gratefull! #dauvenay by @koenopperman

After a hefty day at Barcelona Wine Week we searched the @vinyadelsenyor wine list for the ultimate comfort wine and this @viticolamentridana Las Iruelas 2018 provided. Those who know me, know my love for a specific Southern-Rhône Grenache driven wine. I can’t help but compare the latter. 2018 isn’t a vintage i would pick straight away from a wine list, yet this wine was the ultimate last-bottle-of-the-day. On the nose it’s floral,savory and a hint from the granite soils are present . It’s palate provide a certain light playfulness, with complex flowery hints and beautiful spices. Perfectly ripe tannins and lively acidic backbone. The perfect companion? Jamón Ibérico ofcourse! This vineyard is now presented under the @comandogviticultores label, so you know where to look. #grenache by @koenopperman

After sharing a thousand wine stories on IG, I've decided it's time to share my thoughts on the bottles that cross the table. Starting with this recent incredible flight: @domainegeorgesroumier Morey-Saint-Denis Clos de la Bussière 2019 needed time to settle, but once it did, it was a game-changer. Poured a small glass for a wine friend earlier that day, first call: Clos Rougeard. At first encounter it presented dense, dark fruits, a hint of oak, and a rare backbone for Pinot Noir. I popped the cork straight away and gave the wine time to setle and get comfy. After 6+ hours, it shifted gears, revealing a stunning bouquet of violet and forest fruits. Its power is raw yet refined. This wine kept giving all night long. Honestly, please wait another 3+ years to open. @m.a_nauleau_mugneret Vosne-Romanée 2009, my first Mugneret-Gibourg! After hearing many great stories about this domaine it was very high on my to drink list. This perfectly aged bottle was a masterclass in elegance, softness, and refinement. Such a perfect balance between energy and evolution. Impossible to pick a favourite, but who cares? #roumier #mugneretgibourg taken in Efteling by @koenopperman

Gisteren hebben we de release van de Beaujolais Nouveau 2024 gevierd bij @thelobbyamsterdam Nesplein. Het restaurant is voor deze gelegenheid omgetoverd tot Bistro Nouveau.
Denk hierbij aan de meest zalige Beaujolais, van Nouveau tot Morgon, aan Franse chansons, en het Chef’s Menu heeft een Franse twist. Bistro Nouveau is er nog tot en met 24 november, dus reserveren!
